HI -- I totaly agree -- get an interior designer , they will help you with a color plan and keep you on budget and on plan .If you have a school in your city - an interior design grad student can be a cheaper way to go and they usually welcome a project for their porfolios.

Where are you located?

A suggestion, if you like a hint of yellow, start with the cabinets. Here is a picture of a kitchen with painted cabinets, SW Convivial Yellow. (sp?) KraftMaid has some affordable cabs that you can paint. Have them in my laundry room and they are as good as my more $$$ ones. Invest in great pendants. Carry that yellow throughout the downstairs on the walls, paint the wood work a creamy white and then bring in all your turquoise in accent colors. I chose one paint color for my daughter's first floor and it looks great. It gives you the option of other colors in other rooms. Black granite. Hope this helps. Your inspiration is soft yellow…go for it.

I do have an interior designer,, works with the builder,, she's really good but many things I have to decide for my house. I want my home to reflect me and not some on else. I love the pictures Judyg sent,, that's exactly what I was going for. Thank all of you so much

Yeah that's fine, for me my house still reflects who I am and I had a vision from the beginning and my designer made it come alive. Just a suggestion because I have been through it and I know with so many decisions to make, it can get overwhelming. My designer thought of things and saw things that I didn't. They just have the eyes for it I guess.

Good points about designers. I found a designer whose style I love on this site. Has anyone used a decorator that is not in your own area and you do things on-line or via photos? I am sure my area has good and competent people, however, I related to this person's work the minute I saw it here. I'd appreciate the advice if you have it.
