In looking at your room, I do not see very much white trim. Personally, I would paint the wall behind the tv (where it is now white)the same color of the room and then paint the mantle and other wood work white. Just MO..

I forgot to mention that the crown moulding will continue around the perimeter of the room, if that makes any difference in color choices.

I think the wall color as it is will just blend into the fireplace so I can see why you want some other color. What are all the colors you're bringing into the room? Maybe you can use the color of the drapes? Or you could go with a color that's in the same family as the wall color but just a couple of tones darker.

I'm not an accent wall fan, so I'd probably go with the wall color, and the fireplace in white/off white (same as what crown molding will be). But, if you do want an accent color, what about a terracotta color to match drapes?

Thank you all. We definitely don't want to use a terracotta color. I've been playing around with SW Color Viewer and am really lost, not really loving anything! Can't decide if the mantle should be a white tone or dark, like a mahogany. Help!

I would paint the wall the Moccasin as others suggested. Pretty color BTW! I just pulled out the BM color deck to look at it. Why don't you paint the trim and fireplace the lighter shade on the card - mohair? Another option would be to choose a darker color from the card for the fireplace like baked cumin or gingersnaps. If you do this, then everything will definitely blend! Even if you do the fireplace darker, I would stick to a lighter moulding color but not stark white.

Thanks dawnp. Your first suggestion seems like the most logical/safest way to go. So if I paint the wall Moccasin (like the rest of the living room), the mantel & trim mohair, what about the tv cabinet? It's all woodwork set into the wall. Should I do it the Moccasin or Mohair, or a shade darker? I know the colors are really close, but the details bug me.

Sorry! I just saw your response. I think, from looking at the pictures, that I would paint the TV cabinet the wall color(Moccasin). But, why don't you paint the mantle, then sample both colors on the cabinet? You will know.
