Carpet is worn out and it is time to make a change.....I am overwhelmed with the options

I like wood floors, but I am having a challenge finding the right wood to go with the kitchen cabinets. I very much enjoy a home that feels light and enjoy the look of my white shutters and trim. I am currently considering the hickory sample, but I am wondering if that if I put that shade of wood throughout the house, it will be too dark. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

I am thinking one tone darker or one tone lighter. Are you changing the carpet too? If you use a darker tone it would really make the cabinets stand out. They are nice and would tie into the counter top more. And it would go with the green carpet better. If you are changing the carpet to a lighter color a darker tone would still help to differentiate between the kitchen area and the living room. Hope this helped.

The hickory is nice but is too similar to the cabinets. I would go a shade darker or to a golden oak tone in order not to match the cabinets.

I would like to get away from carpet and tile in the main areas of the house and have carpet only in the bedrooms. I agree with the need to differentiate from the cabinets; which is where I ran into problems. I took a drawer from the kitchen to the flooring center and brought home a few samples which did not work. Any suggestions on a type of wood or color of wood that you may have seen that works nicely with the color of my cabinets and countertop? I appreciate your feedback..... Thank you.

to keep it light, put wide plank whitewash wood floors through out the area. a light natural grass weave rug in the den
