This usually is indicative of a bladder or kidney problem, please get George to the vet ASAP! A whole year? Poor baby has got to be hurting!

I hope this isn't it and he is just a finicky cat, but unfortunately kitties who don't urinate in their box have something serious going on. If he is only pooping outside the box, it might be like one of our cats, she needs a dirty box, won't touch a clean one. When I sift I must leave a nugget or two behind or she won't use it, she will go next to the box. Go figure.

Alisha, please tell us you got George to a vet today! What is the verdict?

Going next to the box is absolutely a cry for help. Even after you have taken your cat to the vet and started him on a treatment, he may still go next to the box for awhile. I found that putting a puppy training pad (found them at Petco) under my cat's box helps with the clean-up after next-to-box accidents.

Did you change the litter? If so...switch back. Has he gotten bigger? If so, try and under-the-bed 6" storage box instead of a litter box. Sometimes they don't like the small boxes.

Alisha, what did the vet say? I am really worried about your furbaby! This is a very serious problem, we are all concerned.

I have a cat who is 11 years old, who i've had from the time she was 3 weeks old, she has taken to going potty any place in the house. I thought it was because of other cat's in the house, so i tried a second litter box in another room, she wouldn't use it either.I had to take up carpet in one room, i can't have her doing this, any idea's?

Deb, read the responses to this post.

Alisha......

Get to a vet as soon as possible! My persian did the very same thing and she had crystals in her urine. She had an operation that fixed it completely.

Hi, vet had me try another litter box in the same room, it seems to be working.
