Anyway, I feel compelled to add my 2 cents to this. I have spent lots of time fixating on the finishes (so maybe I can save you some time) and in general I think the sink and faucet are kind of in a different plane from everything else so I think you can go with whatever you like there. Honestly, I think the mixtures of finishes, as long as it's not hodgepodge, looks fine to my eye. I do understand what you are saying, and I think that orb faucet will look fine on the granite (dont forget even though it is in the granite, it is higher above it so will really show against your backsplash). Am I confusing you enough? If you really want the nickel faucet, you could do just the faucet as that and still have everything else orb and in my opinion it would look fine.

I love ORB-that said I love the look of nickle with the white and black too....haha...so I see what you are saying. I have white cabinets and we are doing a black backsplash....I have ORB-I love the look. But I think ORB is very warm compared to nickle. I agree that it is fine to mix them! As long as you are okay with it. I have SS appliances and ORB and to me that is similar to mixing and it looks great to my eye. I will say are you doing honed black granite since you wanted soapstone? I find that more similar then polished granite would be...and I love that look!

We are getting a black granite (Diamond Black...like Black Galaxy only w/silver inclusions instead of copper & pink). But, our cabinets are cherry w/a mandarin stain & coffee glaze, so they're darker than yours.

We had a similar debate in our house and we decided on brushed nickel faucets b/c we felt the ORB was too dark against the granite.

As to other finishes...our pulls & knobs will be "Antique Iron" and the pendants brushed nickel. I was originally looking at black pulls & knobs but it was pointed out to me that the black is usually paint...and I do NOT want paint on my pulls/knobs (I had enough of paint w/our washed oak cabinets and the worn away paint!)

I think you will be OK mixing finishes as long as you stick to two finishes (not counting appliance color). IMHO, too many finishes will look like everything was thrown together rather than planned. BUT...I lean toward being "matchy-matchy", so that may be my bias.

Buehl, I tend to be a matchy-matchy too, so that is what puts me in that predicament. So you all think if I do a brushed nickel faucet, s.s. appliances and o.r. bronze on everything else the nickel won't stand out too much? I would really like nickel pendents as well, but I think that's pushing the limits of my matchy-matchiness.

Did I mention my dilemma with door handles? It never ends . . . Thanks for the help all!

Sorry, did you mention what color your sink is? What about keeping the ORB for the knobs and things and maybe doing brushed copper for a faucet? It's brighter against the black granite and goes really well with ORB. Just a thought. Of course, if your sink is SS then you might not want to do that?

I agree with the others that you can pretty much do anything you like.

I have white cabinets and black honed granite on my perimeter and honed marble on my island (painted a gray/green). I decided to use ORB knobs and pulls because I felt they stood out more on the white cabinets and warmed up the look a bit. However, I went with a satin nickel faucet because that is on the black granite and I thought the ORB would get lost on the black. So far I love the look of both and people who have been in the kitchen have specifically commented on the ORB knobs and pulls on the white cabinets. I haven't decide what sort of pendants I will get for over the island (ORB or satin nickel), but I figure either would work since I already have both. Oh, and I have stainless appliances too.

I have white cabinets with a glaze, black Kozmus granite and ORB knobs. I ended up using the mahogany bronze faucet from Mico and it looks great - imo. We also used an anthracite silgranit sink. Hope that helps.

Here's my ORB faucet with my black Zodiaq. After I ordered the faucet I had a little panic attack about it being too dark with counters. I really like it! Need to post a newer pic- our pulls and knobs are satin/brushed nickel and appliances are stainless. I actually love the look!

Pony, I love your faucet! It is much darker than the o.r.b. one I have now. Your kitchen is a snapshot of what I have planned - love it!!
