P-trap types - lavatory

I'm doing water damage wall repair,etc.. While removing the old lavatory sink and cabinet I broke the PVC waste arm near the wall. Fortunately I have just barely enough pipe near the wall to glue a hub or adaptor onto it.

The existing trap was 1 1/2 PVC glue-in with a trap nut (for dissassembly). I cam replace with the same, or just glue on a slip-nut type adaptor so I can more easily install a slip-nut, swing-arm type, etc. Do slip-nut types, vs. glue in (WITH NUT) perform any differently over time?

This will be in a finished loft above detached garage that get's only occasional use. This work is being done because of water damage under the sink from a leak that went undetected for quite a while. Thoughts? Thanks.
