30' Gas range recommendations - thinking about upgrading

Right now we have a Kenmore - it is nice. Nothing wrong with it - it just isn't anything special. I do love that it has continuous grates along the top. Oven is a good size. I LOVE to cook.

What would you recommend if we were to upgrade?

Do you have a budget in mind, ejbrymom? Gas ranges can vary alot in price, as I am sure you know. Also, do you have a particular style you are attracted to?

I wanted a pro-look but couldn't bring myself to spend more than $2500. In the end, I selected an NXR 30" all-gas range. It is only 4 burner (I was hoping for 5) but I ordered the seperate center grate so will have a continuous surface.

This range was ordered sight unseen and has yet to arrive so I can only share what I selected, not whether I am happy with it. I ordered through AusTex Appliance - free shipping, propane conversion, center grate came to about $2150.

Hope this helps! Also, check out the appliance forum. Lots of opinions over there.

I think your price range is about all I can convince my husband to spend on 1 appliance. :) Under $3-2.5K would be preferable.
I definitely want a pro look - continuous grate, atleast 1 powerful burner - rapid boil, even temp oven cooking. I want it to look substatial but be super practical and small in size (30") Have great ratings and good warranty.

I'm looking at what you are getting rid of! Do you know the model number of the Kenmore you have? I want budget white, self clean, sealed burners and bonus window of any size. The grates I see on all the stoves are not what I think are quality. I don't think they'll last more than a couple of years. I can't wait to get rid of the electric convection I have. I realize I will never be able to cook on electric and want my gas stove back ASAP! Barely enough money left in the remodel budget for it but I'm going to do it anyway.

I just got a Frigidaire Professional Series 30" gas range - 5 burner with continuous grate - has the rapid boil & simmer burners & center (5th burner) comes with griddle insert. Oven is huge - 5 cu ft - comes with a split rack so if you have big roast or turkey or tall cake or something, you don't have to give up the rest of the oven space. Also - its convection, has a warming drawer & I love the look.

I haven't used it yet (as we are still working on the kitchen, but it did get good reviews & I've had good luck with Frigidaire in the past).

I believe it was about $1300? I was also considering the GE Cafe, but it was about $1,000 more & didn't seem to have as many good reviews.

I'll post the link - go into the pictures to see that split rack I was talking about.

I got the one in the pic (with the black top) but Lowe's sells on with a stainless top - exclusive to Lowe's.

Pinch, I have the white Kenmore w/cont. grates in our rental. The grates have a porcelain coat and it is a pain in the arse since the pots slide around on the smooth surface.

In my own kitchen I have the Kenmore Elite Dual Fuel in SS with cast iron grates and have loved it since I got it in 2005.
