You have to supervise them very closely, and limit their time together. Do not let the big one hurt the baby.

Give it time. The big one is way too much for the baby right now.

It sounds like the older kitten is just trying to play like he would with his siblings (who would be the same age/size and at the same level of play and rough housing). The little one might just be letting him know (vocally) that he's playing a little too rough. Supervise them and separate them if/when things start to get out of hand (a little time out). Before you know it, the little one will catch up in size and strength!

I think your kittens are bonding already. Kittens do a lot of mock fighting, chasing, and lying in wait and attacking each other, and it is all part of "growing up cat."

I bred Abyssinian kittens in Japan for 7 years, so I have had the fun of seeing a lot of kittens. It sounds to me like the case Cat Mom describes.

I always assumed that a kitten that squealed was protesting being hurt, but something interesting happened to me when I was bottle-raising an abandoned kitten. I used to "play' with it. It would get on its back and attack my hand, biting and scratching me. My hand would pretend it was trying to reach the kitten's tummy to tickle it, and I never did anything that could hurt the kitten, but IT would squeal as if it were being hurt, while it really was hurting my hand. That tipped me off to the fact that at least some of the cries kittens utter while play-fighting really just mean that they are excited.

There were times when we had a new kitten and some adult cat didn't like it--maybe even administered a small bite or slapped the kitten on the head, but even then, there was no damage, and within two weeks at the longest they were friends. Just supervise a little when they are playing.

update-been limiting time with each other and keep my eyeon them.Noticed that baby kiten keeps going back 4 more so maybe they playing.they eat their dinner side by side and know whos whos dish and use the same litter boxes.Taking the little darlings to the vet fri 4 their jabs and as soon as older kitten is 6months he will be netured.

older kitten (friskee) sleeps in my room at mo but when i get into bed he wants to lay right on me and has a thing for licking my eyelashs .

baby kitten(whiskee) sleeps in my daughters room we will let them sleep together when baby kitten is bigger.

You want to use a spay bottle when things get too rough, but i'd let them sort it out, provide a place where kitty can go, the little one I mean, thats away from the bigger sibling.

One thing you don't want to do is get them De-clawed, its very inhumane and can lead to serious behavioral and mental problems. I'd also neuter the bigger one, 8 weeks isn't to old to fix um and the younger the better, expect when under 2 lbs..

I know this is late, but unless a cat is really hurting the other then they needed to be left alone. The older one was just establishing dominance. It would have been better to have gotten a female kitten. Also it looks like you didn't neuter you first one soon enough. Males will mate with each other if no females are around. I had our male cat neutered at 3 months old because he was trying to mate with one of his sisters. Also if you wanted multiple cats then siblings is the best way to a happy and healthy home. All 3 of mine were spayed and neutered at 3 months old and they healed so fast as the young tend to do. I'm glad they are getting along but don't wait to long to get the new one neutered.

Some cats can go into heat at 4 to 5 months and they can play very very rough causing serious bites that can pull hair or drawl blood. Only commenting on this old forum in case anyone else had same issue.
