Depends entirely on the rescue group. I tried with six before I found Capone at the local shelter. I called, emailed, smoke-signaled, without return. I know they're all quite busy and all, but four months? I hope you get luckier with your rescue group than I did. That being said, I did learn a lesson: do NOT fall in love with Fifi before you're approved and have a claim staked on her with solid paperwork.

Having rescued four dogs over the past 15 years, I have discovered that patience is a virtue, but persistence is also necessary.

Look at it this way, a dog is looking for you, not the other way around. In time, you will be blessed. This blessing will put you in touch with the Divine, which will sustain you.........

Good luck! Keep us posted!! I'm sure we would all like to see a photo of the new pup!!!

It takes a while. When our dog died, I signed up with a rescue organization. Didn't hear back for about six months, so I looked in the want ads and bought a dog thru a private breeder. Wouldn't you know it, I got two calls within a week with available dogs. I had to turn them down. I can only deal with one puppy at a time.

I have adopted rescue dogs from three different places and only waited a few days at most.......my last one, I found on the available web site, made the contact, and we met the next week.
