-On a day-to-day basis, these types of synthetic material rugs should be vacuumed up to keep dirt from settling deep into the rug fibers.

-It's also important to keep track of the label that came with the rug, so you are sure what it is made out of and how you can clean the rug.

-Most of the time, you should only really need to spot clean the rug. You can do this by mixing a solution of lukewarm water and mild detergent. Make sure to dab, not rub, the stains, so you won't drive them deeper into the material of the rug.

-When you do need to wash the entire rug, make sure that there is no rug pad on the bottom that can't get hosed down, and lay the rug down (perhaps at on a slight incline), and hose it down. With the same solution of mild detergent and warm water, use a handled brush or a push broom, and just sweep over the rug. Rinse it out thoroughly, and maybe go over it again with a clean plastic brush to get the excess liquid out.

-For stains that keep reappearing, try using one of those steam clean wet/dry vacuums. They can get out the stains that are deep in the rug.

-Hang dry, and makes sure that the rug is completely dry before you put it back. Mold can form otherwise.
