New pool TODAY!!!!!!

Well not really new. But an old pool completely redone. We have a fairly large older pool. 9' at the deep end. Built in 1984, and to my knowledge never replastered. We had new coping tiles put in also, a multi-blend flagstone that matches our original decking flagstone. We went with Diamond Brite Midnight Blue. It is supposed to be installed today(if I believe the contractor...tee-hee). I saw a pool with Midnight Blue yesterday and it looked great. The water looks how I expected it to look. Beautiful deep blue which should look really nice in my 9 foot deep end. I started reading this forum yesterday and have noticed that this is definitely a Pebble Tec board. Are you really homeowners or Pebble Tec contractors :) The only feedback I have seen on here that stands out is photos from a guy who had a really bad experience with DB and in Midnight Blue! Is there anyone out there who has positive feedback on my selection? Keep in mind that it is too late anyway. They are supposed to come out today, I love the pool I saw yesterday, and Pebble Tec is a $1500 upgrade that I don't want to make. Any pics would be nice.... And not from the guy who had footprints in your plaster. You scared me, and it took a day for me to calm down:)

Thanks.

They are here now. Looks kinda scary wet. Looks like the blue bottom of an old metal edged vinyl lined kiddie pool I played in when I was 5-8 years old.

Well, how did it turn out?

These guys are good from what I am told. First of all they are wearing the sponges on their feet to keep out footprints. Also, they are just now acid washing the pool. This is done to take away some plaster to expose the quartz. Noticing some SLIGHT mottling. The people that I spoke to said you have to expect that with any dark finish. Pebble Tech can do it also. He suggested if you wanted no perceivable imperfections I should go with plain white plaster. There is no way to keep all color variations out. I am happy with it to this point. I expect to be ecstatic after the water is in.

    BUMP................

And, is "borrowing" water from your next door neighbors house to fill said pool wrong? We will pay the water bill if we went over the monthly allotment.

LOL! It's only wrong if you don't ask them first!

    Looking forward to pics :)

We used our neighbors water to fill our pool. I think we gave them $10. BTW, I am not a PebbleTec fan. We don't have it and had no desire to have it. I just don't like the look or feel of the pebbles. It is so good that there are different products. We had our pool finished last May, my BIL's was finished in Jan., and our friends' was just dug 2 wks. ago. All of ours are different and none of us would want the others. Ours is freeform w/ a rock waterfall, 7 ft., UltraPoz (which is a type of plaster w/ quartz in it), w/ acrylic decking, and a large Baja step. BILs is a rectangle w/ a lg. Baja, UltraPoz, square spa, sheer decent, play pool, and grey decking. Very modern looking and way too angular for me. Our friends' is a kidney shape w/ no Baja, Pebble Sheen, rolled bond beam, rock waterfall, spa, and is a play pool too. I don't like the rolled bond beam and I just love the Baja. Couldn't imagine not having it. BIL doesn't like either of ours because they are too curvy. Ours is also the only one w/ a pool fence. So I guess my point is that you just need to get what you like. You are not trying to make anyone else happy. All that matters is that you are happy w/ it.

I can't wait to see it.
