What is this wall application? I recently redid my shower with troweled concrete and need to know how best to seal it.

@josephdwork. a latex improved mix that is suitable for thin coats. More importantly, a membrane UNDER coat, (either paint on (Laticrete Hydro ban) or a thin sheet variety (Schluter Kerdi) is VITAL. A sealant is only for sheeting purposes, NOT waterproofing a shower assembly. I would look at exterior grade commercial trowel grade coating for that look. A stucco blend should work well

I'd use the same sealer as I use on grout and non-polished stone : Miracle 511 impregnator

Trying to pull off a shower surround in troweled concrete, what mix works best? and can it adhere to the ceiling as well?

1. Just want to be sure I've got this correct, because I also plan to do shower walls in concrete: I should use Sakrete Type S/Mortar-Stucco Mix, and seal it with Miracle/511 Impregnator. Is that correct?
2. For substrate: I'm going over wood walls. Wouldn't using Hardie cement board/tile backer be the right choice? Anything else needed before cementing over this?

whoa I haven't presented a tutorial on shower construction, just a few pointers. This is way beyond the scope of this forum. A better place would John Bridges forum or ContractorTalk.

Backer boards are a fine substrate for thin set mortar and tile. They do not address making a wall assembly waterproof.. They also don't provide the support for a traditional scratch/brown/finish coat system that a stucco requires, expanded metal/plastic lath is also needed.
