Hi Grinder,
If you clean your brushes/tools after you're done,
* Oils/Alkyds/solvent-based stains need "paint-thinner" to clean-up tools & equipment...like sprayers.
* Latexes need just warm water/soap to soften/clean the water-based resins.
* Some stains are "hybrids", meaning both kinds of resins are in the product.
* If you're QUICK to clean-up, this last group can be cleaned from tools with warm water/soap. After an hour (beer-break?!?!), get out the paint-thinner!
* If it's a few DAYS, you'll need a stronger solvent like a brush & roller cleaner.

Most of CR is pretty good. But I did notice they grouped Sikkens SRD (a fairly CLEAR stain!!!) in with the SOLID/opaque stain ratings!! Hmmmm....
