New carpet day!

I know that carpet isn't a very popular choice for a lot of people, but we replaced ours in our bedroom and our girl's room today with new carpet. As much as I would have loved hardwood, we just replaced the downstairs carpet with oak installed by my dh, and there is no way he is ready for another big project (plus, the carpet with installation is still quite a bit cheaper than diy hardwood....I didn't have much of an argument to make!)

I wasn't very excited researching carpet until I found this one on a blog. It's winterthur in the home depot Martha Stewart line. I took out 500 sq ft of carpet this week and moved all the furniture to save a few hundred dollars, and I am now tired but beat, and ready to take a nap on the new carpet! : )

Our room was a terrible dark teal before, and the other room was not in good shape and we thought it was original to the house, circa 1986. But I found an advertising button for windows 95 under the pad, so it was a newer than we thought for being so trashed.

We will soon be putting up bunk beds for my girls that I bought at a tag sale last summer and painted. I haven't been very speedy with my decorating of late!

It looks beautiful! As much as we all love hardwood, sometimes you have to listen to your pocketbook. I need to replace all my upstairs carpeting, and can not afford to put in hardwood, which we have everywhere down. So carpet it will be. I love the look of yours, and am going to run past Home Depot to see this in person, since it looks like just what I might want, also.

There's not much better than clean floors, no matter what the covering. Your broadloom looks great.

I've seen that MS line of carpeting in stores. I thought about having a piece made into an area rug but was afraid my dog would snag his nails on it as he did with a previous rug.

Happy New Carpet Day! The new carpet looks beautiful. I love hard wood in certain applications, but I also think carpet is a very valid and lovely choice. And I think the carpet you've selected is very lovely. You're making me dream of new carpet for my house...

Hope we are doing that happy dance before too long. Narrowing down our carpet choice(s), but have some room/wall prep work to do before we get to that.

Thanks for celebrating with me, everyone! The rest of the family likes it too. Although it was crazy hair day at school, so that's a much bigger deal to my kids!

I originally saw it on the blog linked, as well as a few other blogs. It kept growing on me, and I really liked that it was a little different from typical carpet, but hopefully not too out there that it becomes quickly dated.

I went with the color ash bark, which is what the Bower's picked as well.
