We were trying to be environmentally sound so we started to put in a rice hull deck by McFarland. The builders only got the front porch done when I stepped out and slipped and fell on the deck.

The builder called the McFarland rep and they said that was because we hadn't cleaned the deck with spic and span then powerwashed it. So, we tried that and it didn't work - still slippery. They claim it was developed for marine usage but I can't imagine how that works out.

Anyhow, we pulled up the decking we had put in and returned it and the unused material to the vendor. McFarland refused to admit it was slick but, to their credit, they gave us a full refund on the product. Of course, nothing for the labor wasted.

I just wanted to warn others about the slickness of this product before they purchase.
