Question for 'natural_one'

I'm still kicking myself (hard) for not realizing you were a PB when we were seeking bids to try and get our pool finished. I just found your website tonight - what amazing pools you have built! The pool on your homepage is the prettiest pool I've ever seen. I can't quit looking at it. Do you happen to remember the color of pebblesheen or plaster that was used for that pool? We're still hemhawing on color - I'm trying to find a very rich, deep ocean blue color (without being black, and no green tint). I thought we were going with Ocean Blue, but we saw a pool this weekend with that color and it looked positively greenish. The water didn't look that bad, so I don't know if that color is the norm. I thought Ocean blue (equivalent to Midnight Blue Pebbletech) was just that - BLUE. Any suggestions for me? You've seen the design and build of our pool - we're trying to keep it as natural looking as possible. Aqua and turqoises just wouldn't look right in our setting. Do you have any advice for us on color? There is another pool on your website gallery that is rectangular in shape and surrounded by wood decking. Do you know what color that interior was? Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Hi Birdbath, We are getting ready to go with Midnight Blue Pebble tec. We have the same concerns...we want NO green, I posted this recently and several pics showed a real nice rich blue....the pool you saw which looked green, was it possibly reflection from the surroundings or water not balanced?

Heres the link to the previous thread

By the way what is Natural One's webpage address. Thanks

Here is a link that might be useful: Midnight Blue Pebble Tec

Now I'm wanting to see that pool...lol. Don't tease us like that!

cdavmd - Thanks for the info. I guess I missed that thread. When are you going to be putting your pebbletech in? Ocean Blue is the same as Midnight Blue, except the stones are smaller. That's my understanding anyway. I really love all the pictures online of the color, but when we saw this particular pool, we were very disappointed. I kept telling my husband that maybe the pool builder who steered us there had the color wrong. It looked more like Turtle Bay or something. It was at a model home, and we just peered over the fence (they were closed). Maybe the pool was off balance or something. Have you seen the Midnight Blue in person? I really hope it's a deep blue color, that would make me feel better about Ocean Blue Pebblesheen.
    Oh, the website is www.naturalreflectionspools.com
I'm in love with the cover pool - it has natural rocks, beautiful blue color, there's just something about it......

That is a beautiful pool. I can see why you were attracted to it. It reminds me of yours!

My pool designer has Midnight Blue PT, and we went to her house to look at it. It was a very deep blue. I didn't notice any green whatsoever.

Dear Natural, have you seen a Beadcrete pool? The Water Blue looks like that - but it has more "glisten" to it. It feels so good and the looks can't be beat!

Birdbath... first, thank you for the compliments. I try not to plug our company's name too much as I know the website is sometimes quick to ban. But hey, you did the research.
The cover pool is French Grey PebbleSheen with 2 SAM lights paused on blue. The color is completely untouched or photoshopped.
The rectangular pool is a custom black sheen by PebbleTec. We had a special order of black dye used in that one. Since we finished that pool, they have come out with more black finishes (Black Satin sheen and Jet Black Tec). I wouldnt suggect a black finish on yours though...just my .02.

Im not sure what builder is finishing yours out, but if they use PebbleTec brand (and not a knock off) they should have small booklet that shows water color at certain depths. It is an awesome tool. I think they have to be an approved builder through PebbleTec to get the book... I have 3 sitting in our design room in Glendale. If you want to stop by I could show them to you along with pool photos of various finishes...although I dont use Tec that much...mainly sheen. I miht even be able to swing out there on my way home one day and bring picres and samples ust to help you. You were taken advantage of on levels unimagineable... Id be happy to try and save AZ pool builders reputation. :)

I recently did my in-laws pool in PV in Turtle Bay Sheen and it is absoltely gorgeous. One of my favortite dark colors. Darker than I'll use in my personal pool, but for a darker color it is just beautiful.

Another coor I love that should be used more in my opinion is Bordeaux PebbleSheen/Majestic Plum PebbleTec. It is sooo natural looking. I have both finishes in gorgeous pools that I love. People usually think its o purple looking, but once installed and filled with water its awesome. You have my number if you need to talk...

Susantiger... I have all the samples of Beadcrete but unfortunaely havnt installed it yet. I definitel look forward to trying it. Ive been meaning to research it more and see some pools firsthand.

    Thanks,
    Tyler

Tyler-once you get going on the Beadcrete, its hard to do a pebble. We were really set on doing Pebble, but once we saw the Bead, we just had to have it. Yes, its an upgrade (again!), but the texture is "wow"(feels like the Adidas flip flops that have the little massage-dimples on the soles...pure bliss!

Depending on the amt of glass you put in determines the price. They have had a lot of bead clumping problems, Depending on color. I dont like to install problems, done right with a lot of glass and its beautiful. With your neg edge you would have to do two different materials, pebble out of water and beadcrete in the water.

I have Finest Finish tahoe blue in my pool. I love this product, it has a pebbles in it but is smooth as silk. My water color is incredible. Smoother then pebble sheen, more money too. Stuff hardens to 9000 psi, so dense nothing penetrates it.

If I can figure out how to post a picture I will show you my resort.

    Tyler,

Thank you so much! You really have done a lot to restore my faith in contractors out here. If I ever do build another pool (it pains me to even write that!), I would definitely contact you. In the meantime, though, you will be recommended to all my friends and family. My mom is thinking about remodeling her pool - but has been a little gun shy since witnessing our experience with the PB. I'll show her your website! Thanks for the info on the pools. I've seen that French Grey before and it IS beautiful. No doubt about it. The look I'm seeking is a dark blue, rich color. I'm familiar with the Pebblesheen cards you're talking about, and picked out Ocean Blue based on them. We even have the pop-up heads already installed in the black color in preparation for the Ocean Blue. My only worry was that after seeing that one pool in person, it looked very green. Based on what everyone is saying, though, it sounds like something was going on with it - either filtration or balance problems, or maybe that PB had the colors mixed up. Have you seen that color of Pebblesheen in person? You've seen all the pictures of our pool, do you think Ocean Blue would look nice with the surrounding scenery? I agree with you about the black - I want as dark blue as I can go without going to the black Pebblesheen colors. By the way, Cal Plaster will be doing our pool. You're probably familiar with them. You are more than welcome to come and see the pool anytime!

    just-a-pb,
Yeah I remember that now. They have all glass beads and stone/glass ratio applications as well. I think if I were to di it I would go all glass as it seems soo much smoother. I would open a photobucket "account"...it's completely free and very easy to get used to. Its nice because you can save hundreds of pictures on it and access it anytime you can get on the internet. You just copy and paste the code into your message and pictures appear.
oh, and Im waiting for you to take off your mask. haha :)

    birdbath-
Thank you very very much. I have to be careful with what I say now, but I love the chance to help out anyway possible....even if it is soley on this site.
I believe I have done one pool in Ocean Blue. I remember it being very dark. Perfectly clear, but from a distance pretty similar to black...
I think it will work just fine on your pool if that's what you want. I like that it wouldnt be the most popular choice for your pool, but that's what makes it YOUR pool.
There several colors I would be very opposed to, and ocean blue isnt one of them. I might make sure you see/consider turtle bay sheen... I believe it would work with black heads, although you may just stick with ocean blue and trust you made a good choice.
And yes, CAL is the best for Pebbletec brand finishes. Good choice there...of the 2 in the Valley :)
I have a press check in the morning for some new brochures and a couple appointments, but let me see what pictures I can find for ya on my laptop when I get into the office tomorrow. Oh! and again, congrats on the greentag. I'll be calling for mine soon too! Maybe we'll pebble on the same day!
The wife and I decided tonight to go with French Grey with abalone shells. My collar/head set is tomorrow!
    Have a good one!

Hey, Cal Plaster did our pool, but we don't have pebble, we have Ultra-Poz. We actually did the bid through another company (we did o/b) but they were the ones that actually came out. They did a great job. No complaints here.

    To natural_one:

My family and I are building an inground pool and we have chosen french grey with the abalone shells. I was just wondering if I could take a look at your pictures of your pool with the same choices before they finish it. Thanks- Ashia

    brycee,

I will post pics in the "my build- glass tile, pebblesheen, etc." thread hen it gets finished.

    Hopefully next week sometime!

Now our pool isn't as glamorous as yours, but I though I would let you take a peek at our french grey pebble sheen, even though I am sure you have seen it plenty of times being a PB and all. The acid wash is scheduled for tomorrow. Can't wait to see yours still.

    brycee...
Looks great! They did a very nice job.
If you like it now wait until there is water! And thank you for your compliments... I wouldnt say yours isnt glamorous, just a different style. Mine's not for everyone to say the least.

Starting up that waterfall is always fun! Congrats!
And I cant wait to see mine either :) Im shooting for this week, but its not on schedule quite yet. I did do some drywall work for the first time ever tonight to hide, I mean "permanently eliminate" a doggie door.

Hello Birdbath, What is "natural one"'s website? I really want to see the pool he build. We are in process design the pool. Thanks.

    anmei....
All I can say is it might be in the 4th post.
Our whole site is being redesigned right now. I saw the first design ideas and Im really liking it. It will have a lot more photos. We have some unbelievable projects that have wrapped up recently that will be on the new site.
