Help...Color

Help! Need to decide color scheme of entire house in 2 weeks. I love the cottage inspirational rooms. I like the crisp & clean look tha they tend to have. I have a beige couch and that's about it. I need a color (for the walls) in my LR and DR. I was going toward greens. I thought tans/taupes would make my couch look more tired than it already is. I would prefer BM paint products. I did post my question on the paint forum....no replies. Please help! Pics would be great to!!

What kind of floors do you have? Do you have rugs?

Does your house get a lot of light?

My favorite BM green is Baby Turtle & has lots of brown in it. It is very warm. My sofa was an olive velvet but faded to a weird green tan in the sun & it looks fine w/ the green. Here's a pic of BT:

I am painting my office/playroom/music rm. SW Blonde - no pic of that. Blonde is a gorgeous color & either seems to work for some or not as the actual color seems to depend heavily on the type of light that it gets.

I really like BM:Wilmington Tan, Powell Buff & Hepplewhite Ivory all on the same HC strip & it reminds me alot of the house that is for sale & posted on the thread 'I Want to Buy This House'. The house is a bit more Modern Country as opposed to Cottage style so I'm not sure if that will appeal to you but I find the ease & transition of the colors to be timeless, classic & updated.

I have lots of questions too before I can throw out suggestions. Is this an old house, new house, open floorplan. Are you planning to use just a few colors in the whole house? What about the bedrooms? Is there bedding you are matching? Any pictures that might help people give you some ideas? See...told you I have alot of questions. LOL!

Have you checked the color galleries to see if something interests you?

Silver Sage is my favorite green and nothing screams cottage like that color IMO. Unfortunately my new house doesn't have light fixtures yet so the color doen't show true for me to post a picture. However, you're surely can find on e on this form and most probably in the gallery. I had BM custom mix mine. I just brought them a sample of the RH paint chip.

Oh my goodness...you are all amazing! My home is an older New England colonial. It has slate tiles in the entry way that lead to the LR/DR. There is a box window and fireplace with a traditional white mantle. The floors will be refinished and I would like to stain them a darker shade to bring out the white wood work. In the DR there is a chair rail and a built in hutch. I would love to send pics..however, unable to. We are staying at my mom's until closing & her computer is not from this century. As Imentioned before the only piece of furniture is an older taupe colder velvet couch. Looks a bit tired, so I need something to brighten it. Thanks for all your help.

ttod- great link and I love your room with BT. I may try it in my kitchen because of your pictures!

The olive greens and Baby Turtle colors look great with taupe. Does anyone remember that thread a while back re greens in kitchens that showed a lot of taupes mixed in with different greens?

If you are doing darker floors, you might also go with the muted palettes like like the creams and silvery sages and light taupes. Someone here posted a great color chart showing the color changes from room to room and she had great colors for the look you are describing. I'm hoping someone here can remember what thread that was from and link it for you.

Your home sounds gorgeous! I love those slate floor entires:-)

As soon as you mentioned slate, white woodwork & darker flrs. I also thought that RH Silver Sage could be perfect.

I've tried using that color many times but didn't feel as though they looked as good w/ my dark trim as if I'd had white trim.
For DS1's Leprechaun Trap I used leftover samples of RH Silver Sage & RH Sycamore Green. It looked so awesome together & I was so sad that I could never get those colors to work for me.

    Thanks Decorpas!

ttodd, I LOVE that BT in your room. I'm thinking now of painting my office in it. While I have white baseboard molding, I do have very dark wood bookcases and a neutral frieze carpet. Do you think it would still look good in a room like mine?

OOPs, sorry for the hijack. :(
