I'm equally curious. I've got an Intellipro VS and have noticed the same thing, except that it cuts of only when running our sheer descent (2,000 rpm). I also have an Easytouch, but no Intellichlor.

I will check for the light. Sounds like it could be a control issue as mine only does it on a particular setting. I am under warranty as well, so I may just give them a ring. Thanks! (hope i'm not taking over the post - sorry!)

Mine primes with no problems. On low speed (750 rpm) there may be a little air in the system, because when I up the speed you see some air bubbles come out of the returns. But it does the cutting off and on at all speeds, 750 -2000 rpm; will the cleaner is running and while the water feature is running.
I will try unplugging the control cable and seeing if that makes any difference. When it cuts off the red light does not blink that I have seen.

Just open the EasyTouch load center and press the RESET button. This should solve the problem.

I'm having the same problem. Mind started cycling every 15 minutes. Now it's cycling about every 10 minutes.
Did the RESET solve this problem? By pressing the reset button, will you lose any of the schedule setting on the EasyTouch?

No, reset just reboots the controller. You have in through the menu to erase the eprom.

There are a couple of things...you said you have the VS (variable speed) model. Did you get the one with the built-in SRVS (safety release valve system)? If so, these pumps are designed to shut down if they sense any blockage (to prevent any suction type injuries). They pump comes set at the highest possible sensitivity from the factory, but you can adjust it so it does not shut down so readily but still retains its SRVS capability. They come set from the factory at "1" for sensitivity. You can change it to up to a sensitivity of 20 and still retain the SRVS feature. You adjust the sensitivity on the logic box. If it is an Intelliflo VF instead of a Intelliflo VS, then the VF is also very sensitive to other equipment. You cannot have an infloor cleaning system with a VF. As soon as the infloor system comes off, the pump will shut off.

I have installed several infloors with the VF with no problems. I have only used it with 8port units. Depends on infloor system I guess? If one port has a much different flow, or it changes greatly between ports then yes it can cause it to fault.
Now unless it is a stand alone, or you have a bunch of them there is no reason to buy a VF.

Just an FYI its "SVRS" Safety Vacuum Release System. Got to keep the lawyers happy.

Check with the manufacturer, I guess. The ones I use clearly state they are not to be used with a variable flow pump. Since this is a site for pool owners and prospective owners, they should be aware to ask the question of their pool builder. Yes, I put the letters in the wrong order. Thanks for the correction.

Note, I haven't been a Pentair dealer since 2000 but have placed at least 20 to 30 of their equipment sets since then. Most have been since the introduction of the Intelliflo pumps.
On my infloor applications I found the 4x160pump with an EZ Touch to be MUCH better than the VS3050 with an Intellitouch. The 3050 outfoxed itself going between zones and tried to make changes accordingly to pressure differentials.
Contractor, are you sure that you have the VS3050, my installations have been with the Intellitouch controller because I was told that the EZ Touch doesn't support the VS3050, only the IntelliTouch 7 or higher did.

The 4X160 is the same pump as the VS-3050

The variable flow pump is the VF-3050.

Pentair failed at naming the pump imo.

I believe the Easy Touch 2.0 supports VF pumps, I don't use VF pumps so I cannot confirm that.

I prefer the intellitouch because of what it's capable of doing, and its more intuitive for clients to operate.

All intellitouch REV's support VS and VF pumps. The 7 and up can dual com ports which makes it easier to wire in a ton of stuff. last week I had to fit 2 Intelliflo's a Intellichlor, wireless, and 2 control panels into a single com port.

Thanks for the comments. I do have a VS/4 x 160 pump. It does not have the SRVS feature. I did try to use the reset button and it did not have any effect on the shutting off and on. Was in pool today and it was still shutting off and on about every thirty minutes. Again it was doing it on low speed, on cleaning speed and with the Magic Stream running.
It does seem to be an Easy touch issue, as when it shuts off the red light on the pump does not come on. And right before it comes back on you can hear a click in the Easy touch panel for the pump to come on. The funny thing about the click is that the pump is not hooked to the relay in the Easy Touch for power. The pump is controlled by the control wire, but gets power directly from the electrical subpanel right beside the Easy Touch. All my equipment is inside in the back of a garage, so the Easy touch is located right beside my electrical sub panel for the entire garage. If anyone knows if wiring the pump to the subpanel and controling from Easy touch would be an issue let me know.
Everything works fine other than the cutting off and on issue.

FYI, you can take one set of com wires from the terminal and wirenut the rest to that. Makes for a cleaner install with possible shorts.

Or use Pentair's COM port expansion module that adds 3 more COM ports and 5 IntelliFlo specific connections. I am pretty sure it is PN 520818.
