So far on a cursory look, this looks good. As for the lights, two will suffice. Three couldn't hurt. My pool is 20x36. I have two colorlogic lights also. Just started my pool and it looks great. Cloudy as all out heck because the chemicals were just added. But they suffice. Three might make your pool glow with the white plaster. Might be too bright. Also the third light will more than likely have to face your house and you definitely don't want that.
You also may want to research the aquarite SWG. It seems a lot of people on this forum are saying their having long term problems with this. Also I'm hearing more and more builders are not putting SWG with any type of waterfall.
Make sure also that they put a minimum of 7 inlets. A pool that large needs that many inlets to have efficient circulation. That's what my builder mandates and you can't have too many.
Also is your bond beam a 4 bar box beam with 1/2 inch steel?
Also what type of drains are you going to have in the bottom of the pool. My drains are 8" with an anti vortex. I have two of them.
And how many skimmers are you having installed. You should have at least two. One wide mouth is not going to be enough.
And finally I used pooltite plus for my plaster. Its suppose to be top notch. My builder said diamondbrite doesn't like to warranty problems with the plaster. He told me that they like to blame the owner in that you are not properly using the right chemicals in the pool. Thereby causing issues with the plaster.
He refuses to use Diamondbrite because it makes him look bad.
Good luck and please post pictures when you start the process. Love seeing pools being built and finished.

    kbahr,
Just a couple things to check.
Suggest you add an automatic waterfill if it's not on your contract. It maintains a constant water level and saves you the hassle of remembering to shut off the water each time you need to add some. Also works well if you go away for an extended period of time. They are a pretty standard item on all pools these days. I've used them since about 1984 and they are great.
Ask your builder about using a line wire controller to operate your light and turn on the pump operating the water feature. It will also allow you to add other exterior lights to the system and it's an inexpensive feature(in most cases I've found that it is cheaper to install than a light switch at the patio).
Yes, 3 is enough. Somewhat depends on the shape.
Electricity must be cheap in Florida. IMO 2HP is a little overkill even with 30,000Gal pool. Suggest you ask your builder about using a smaller pump and running it slightly longer.
Look at pools the PB has done and talk to people in the neighborhood. Make sure your payment schedule is in line with the progress of work(i.e. gunite is equal to about 55% of construction. This may vary slightly). The point is, don't let the PB collect 95% of the money after gunite!
    Good luck.

Thank you so much for the suggestions. Trying to find the right builder at the right price is a task in itself. I can't even imagine what staying on top of the contractors is going to be like. Thankfully I have found this forum.

whatever you do DO NOT USE BLUE HAVEN POOLS.....
and the comment about the payment schedule... a fair schedule is as follows $500 down, 20% after excavation, 20% after steel /plumbing, 20% after gunite, 20% after tile and decking and the FINAL 20% on completion. I have been selling pools over 15 years and worked in WPB, and florida contractors are as shady as they come, if you demand this payment schedule you will assure your pool not only gets finished but it is finished in a reasonable time , any one who is not willing to do it this way is NOT reputable.

Good Luck to you!!! (you may try Van Kirk)

Thanks msbaseball for the advice. I am staying away from Blue Haven Pools. I did meet with Van Kirk Pools but was not overly impressed. They seemed to be way overpriced ($10,000+) for what I am looking to do and did not seem too interested in my business. I am leaning toward a company called Treasure Pools. They ask for a $2000 deposit for plans/permits but then the payment schedule is in 3rds AFTER the work has been completed. They include a completion date penalty clause and have an A+ rating on the BBB. Thanks again for all the great suggestions and help.

Be careful on strictly relying by the word of the BBB. I have never been too impressed with the BBB. If you pay your dues and do some sort of arbitration then you always get a good rating. But if you do have a problem, you usually have to pay the BBB to go above and beyond what they will do for free to try to get a resolution. The best reference is a current or past customer. And make them give you references that are current. Don't go strictly by their "reference" sheet. Some of those references are years old and numbers long gone or screened by them. Ask them for current pool customers under construction or just recently built. That's what I did and it give you great piece of mind. Believe me, if someone is having current problems, they will definitely tell you everything.
Good luck. And I ditto on Blue Haven.!! No to Blue Haven.

You are right whodini. The more information I find out about the BBB the less I can trust their site/input. I have also checked out licenses on the DPBR and have called recent clients. I am still trying to make a decision between 2 companies. Does anyone have any knowledge of The Pool People or Treasure Pools in West Palm Beach?
