So...no one but Vicky & I like this pattern, ey?

Or could this just be a busy month for everyone??? .... ;)

I think it's a darling pattern. If I were to use it in a quilt, I would repeat the leaf pattern and just pop a few of the ladybugs in.

I shall prolly do a couple, but I thought instead of committing myself first and then feeling rushed to get them done, I'd get them done first and then commit to how many. I'll do at least one, and may up the ante.

I worked on my blocks today. Was curoius to see how they would turn out. Cute! Maybe the only thing I'd change is to snowball the black corner with a green square as well. I think I'd like a more overall rounded ladybug.

I do like Calliope's idea of adding leaves w/out the bug on them for a more random feel. :)

Hello! I LOVE this block- it is very cute. I'm sorry I can't participate in the June lotto. June is just plain crazy for me. I'm a teacher, so I have all the end of the year stuff to deal with, and my middle son is graduating from high school- so this is a super busy time for me. When July rolls around I'll be ready to play again. Have a great week! Judy

I will add another one to mine so if no one else joins in whoever wins can make a 9 block wallhanging! Lets have fun!

Vic....would it be ok to draw the eyes on with permannent marking pen, like a pigma instead of using buttons???

Caroline are you thinking because this could go to a baby? Yes, I believe that would be ok........crafteedee you ok with that?

    Vicky

Vicky, put me down for at least one. Like Caroline, could I fuse the black dots to the ladybug or stitch the dots on? I hate the thought of the buttons coming loose after time. Thanks.

    Janet

Several reasons on the buttons...baby,,they come loose, and I HATE sewing on buttons!! LOL!

Why don't we just leave the eyes off, like we did when we paper pieced the cats two months ago? That way, whomever wins it can put on what they like in the way of eyes. I am sure the drawn eyes are fine, but dislike markers on quilts. If I did a quilt like this for a baby (and wouldn't it make a sweet baby quilt?) I'd end up embroidering or doing appliqué. Otherwise it would be buttons, and if somebody drew on the eyes too large, they would be difficult to cover with those.

Thats a good idea...lets leave the eyes off!!!!!! Its not going to be a huge task to make our own if we win!!! Sounds fun! Thank you for Hosting Vicky!

    Vicky,
That is cute. Put me down for three.
    Thanks, Nancy

We will leave off the eyes so that whomever gets them can do what they want there.

    This block is adorable!
I like the instruction to leave the dots off so the winner can finish them as they wish. That's a good idea.

Two questions from a Lotto novice:
    - When are the blocks due in? Is it OK to join as long as the blocks are there by the drawing date?
    - Vicky's post says the background should be white on white, but Crafteedee's sample block (so cute!) looks like a sky blue. Is there a little leeway on background color? I have a pale blue fabric that looks like rain; it would work well for these but I wouldn't use it if all the others will be white.

    Kate

They look white on my monitor,,,so I looked on my moms,,,hers show white too,so Im thinking its your screen.

solstice98 we would love to have you join us. The background is white on white. Yes, without buttons is better.

    Vicky

My background fabric is definiately white on white...but compared to the white forum background...it doesn't look so white....looks a bit gray. :) Pictures can be deceiving.

I drew the line on the back of the ladybug & then narrow machine satin stitched the line.

I'm ALL FOR leaving the buttons & eyes off. I hate sewing those things on. And yes...over time buttons DO come off of quilts that will be used. :( Trust me...almost all 72 buttons on the cat quilt I made my for my DH 17 yrs ago came off! (24 cats: 2 eyes - 1 nose each) I have to repair that quilt for other reasons...but resewing buttons on it will NOT be one of the fixes.

    Vicky -

I'd like to try this one. Please put me down for one block, although I may be able to get more than one done. I love ladybugs!

Are we keeping the ladybug in the center of the block, or varying the placement as suggested in the pattern?

You can vary your lady bug.

    Vicky

Please put me down for two!

I was just going to cut out the fabric tonight, but it was so cute I had to stay up and sew them.

Thanks Vicky! I'm sure this take lots of work to coordinate and organize.

Thanks Vicky. I thought they were pretty cute too! Thanks to Crafteedee for finding this pattern.

I think I'll be using it again - maybe for a table runner with one block made to look like a bee and another with a dragonfly. I can do the bee (same as the ladybug but with stripey black/yellow fabric and appliqued shear wings) but I'm still working out the dragonfly.

Hello,My blocks were mailed Friday. This block was so much fun and easy too!! Robin

This one looks like a lot of fun, but I still just don't have time to get them done and to you by the end of the month. Hopefully, things will slow down around here soon and I'll be able to get back into this. Sorry :) This was a really cute idea for a block lotto pattern though . . .

Mine will be in the mail tomorrow. I did end up varying the location of the ladybug in two of the blocks.

Vicky, I mailed my blocks this morning. I realized I forgot to include the stamps so the envelop should have some tape on it. I hope it makes it to you in one piece. Now I just realized I didn't include my address in the baggie. I'll try to get it back and include my address that way if the envelop rips at least I might have a chance of getting the blocks back. Duh!! I was in such a hurry to get them mailed I forgot everything else.
