I too had a similar issue. Now to describe what I did it sounds horrid - however, everyone who comes in the front door admires it.

I painted the foyer a basic semigloss beige - very boring. The I took leftover midnight blue from the dining room and dipped the corner of a sponge in the paint and very randomly put blue "spots or dots" on the wall. Then I went for the green from the kitchen and did that on the wall. Next was some burgundy from a room I didn't paint burgundy. Then I had a different color of beige that I did. No its not sponge painting just random "thingys" I made on the wall with paint. It looks like a textured multicolor expensive couple of walls - was very easy to do and I'll admit I was just playing and it ended up looking good. Go figure. Its just an idea. I'll try to get a pix later on for you.

Amy, do you have little floor plan or pics that you can share? It is hard to picture.

With a lot of other colors visible from the foyer, I usually go neutral in the foyer. I have what sounds like a similar situation -- enter the front door into our (very small) foyer, and you see a terracotta color in the dining room on one side, a gold in the living room on the other side, and sage green in the kitchen at the end of the hall. So I kept the foyer neutral in a darkish beige.
