Winter Scene Wall Hanging

I have a huge pile of quilt tops that I need to quilt. I have found that I enjoy the piecing process more than actually quilting. My winter scene quilt top has been finished for about 1 year and I finally quilted it in June.

Am I the only one who loves to piece and has a stash of unquilted tops?

Your wall hanging is so pretty. I love winter scenes, in quilts and in pictures...they look so fresh and crisp.

    Good job. TFS.

Lovely! And if feels really good to finnnnally finish a project, doesn't it!

I've been to the Door Mouse(years ago)! It's hard to believe they didn't have the other fabrics in stock (LOL)...... they have soooooo MUCH fabric... it's nearly overwhelming.

    That's a lovely quilt. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I am the same about quilting. I have a pile of finished tops here and wait for the FMQ inspiration bug to hit. Once I start, then I seem to quilt everything that comes between me and my FMQ machine for a bit. Now if I can just get that push to start.

I have several projects going at once and might be actively working on up to 4 at a time, but once I finish a top I get started on the quilting right away. I usually have something in mind for each one so when I get close to the end I'm eager to get it completed.

Linda, My stack of quilt tops probably is not anywhere near yours, but no, you aren't the only one. I'm that way, too.

Your winter scene is nice, but maybe you should consider hanging it this summer to help cool you down. LOL

I'm another one who likes piecing better than quilting, but sometimes the mood strikes. I normally force myself to finish the quilting before moving on to a new project. Your winter scene is very nice.

I am sure that most of us prefer the piecing process over quilting but hand quilting can be a comfort to me sometimes. I have a sm. stack of tops but mostly I make quilts that I give away so I am forces to finish them.
I agree with Sharon, that lovily winter scene would have been a pleasure this past week with our heat wave with high humidity. Can complain too much as weather hasn't bee that terrible this summer. Jayne

Hi, I check out this forum every now and then. What beautiful work you do. This may sound really dumb, but
what's with the yellow straight pin? What is that?
I do not mean to be rude.

mimilm, the straight pin is just for fun! I add the straight pin to each post when I insert a picture.

thank you--it is just so big!! i thought it was kind of a funny-your trademark?? like a signature-cute :)

Hi Linda--COOL looking quilt! I used to think it was the quilting end of it that slowed me down, but it's actually (for me) putting the borders on--isn't that weird?? Then, the next step--making the quilt sandwich, well, I don't mind doing that except that if the quilt is bigger than my banquet table, I have to go to my mum's to spray (she has 2 tables and more room). But once that's done and I figure out how to quit--I'm good to go! I too like to hand quilt--very relaxing!

I have had a request for the pattern so I will give a link to it. It is near the bottom of the page and is called "Snow Chateau".
