So, I went to KBIS in Chicago yesterday and I have to say I really didn't see anything that I didn't already know about thanks to this site. There were lots of sink, cabinet and hinges/handles companies there. Curiously, most of the big name appliance companies were not there.

It was an interesting show but not the knock-your-socks-off with new ideas as I was hoping.

All the cabinet companies were really pushing the push to open cabinets. Kohler was promoting the stages sink which I still think looks cool but wished that it came in cast iron (I'm am strange that I don't like stainless sinks--they never look clean to me).

Next year's show is in Las Vegas at the end of April for west coast folks.

Appliance sales seem to be doing ok especially with the state rebate incentives. Maybe that's why they weren't there.

I agree with you-I don't like the stainless sinks either.

The push to open cabinets-do they open up like the trunk on a car? I've seen some cabinets like that in some kitchen design showrooms here and in kitchens from friends who live in Europe. Mainly it's in their upper cabinets.
