Contractor needed, Cambridge MA

Hi there. Does anyone know of a good contractor who could do a 3 story gut reno in Cambridge MA?

Someone who'd earn a B or B+ grade would be right for us.

We need new everything: plumbing, electrical, floors, kitchen and baths, roof,etc... So it would be a pretty big job.

We would appreciate any references if someone has met such a contractor and would confidently recommend them.

I can recommend a roofer , they did my roof 2 yrs ago, by far the cheapest and quality work. Bay State roofers is located in Reading , Ma. They spent a total of six hours stripping 2 layers and re roofing and did the job right. They have since done several other jobs in my neighborhood because of the work done on my house, they are consummate professionals. Go out and get some detailed quotes and then call them.
I have no affiliation w/ these guys at all, they were recommended by a coworker who is extremely thorough. I work on the engineering side of the trades for a large Defense contractor on the the North Shore.

I can't recommend a contractor, but I'd like to offer some other food for thought. live in your house for 1 yr (if you haven't already) before you start making plans to rip it apart. during this year, you will learn what you like and don't like, what works and what doesn't. Having that knowledge will enable you to control costs of all future work. And...get to know your local building department. They do work FOR you and will be able to offer lots of insight during your planning process.

Ha. Yes, I sure did. I would have LOVED to work with them but it's financially out of the question.

One of my friends in Arlington had Pegasus Design-to-Build do a large renovation that included:
- Enlarging the house by expanding the back
- New family room in the expansion
- Total redo of the kitchen
- Total redo of powder room next to the kitchen
- Redo of upstairs rooms in the expansion,and the full bath upstairs

She is thrilled with them and the results.
