You don't know how glad I was to see your post in Dear Jane. I was hoping you have not been affecting by all the flooding going on in Boulder. Are you on a higher plane than Boulder?

We're a little higher than Boulder. It has been raining here since Monday - we have a small creek that runs right behind our house that could pose a threat. The Poudre River is expected to go out of its banks tonight and it feeds our creek ... In 1997 we had over 3 feet of water in our house and I don't want to go through that again! (We had 14" of rain in less than 3 hours in 97, and only about 5-6" so far in this storm). We have been watching the news all day and praying for the people in Lyons, Boulder, Estes Park.

Linda's son is in the Boulder area - I hope he is doing okay, too!

    Thanks for the concern!

We will pray the creek don't rise. There has been some really odd weather this year.

Thanks for the info, Sue. Hope you and your property fairs well.

Lynn, Is your son ok? I see there are a lot of evacuations and rescues.

Sue, I'm glad you hear you are doing OK. My daughter, Melissa, is keeping me posted. She's 4 miles north of you. The overflow canal for the river is across the street from her. She has a bag packed and is ready to move if necessary. I don't know if they have canceled classes, but she might do well to spend the night on campus. I'll ask her.

Bev, Yes, CSU closed today, as well as all of our public schools. So many roads and bridges are closed it is making it difficult to get around. We are not seeing the heavy flooding that you see on the news for Boulder, but we still have big concerns and urging people to stay off the roads, if possible.

The rain is letting up this morning - YEAH!

Stay safe, Sue. I have been thinking of you also. The coverage on TV is so frightening. I hope you and your belongings stay "high and dry."

My son in Boulder says they are fine because their apt. is on 2nd floor. He has wet floorboards in his car but that is all. Schools are all closed so kids are getting a holiday. I still worry which is a Mom's right.

Linda, I am glad Jason is okay! It is really horrible. We are okay where we are - the creek is still holding behind our house but the ground is saturated. It cleared off and was sunny for a while this afternoon, but the clouds have reformed and showers are expected to start again. Just praying for everyone else!

I haven't seen TV/news since Thursday night. Hope you're still ok Sue.

Hope Jason stays ok, Linda. Of course you're worried!

Yesterday the rain stopped and we were able to get out for a while for a bike ride. Last night, the rain started again and it has been raining steady (and hard at times) all day. We are expecting another 2" of rain today, but I am happy to say that we are still dry at our house. People to the north, east and south of us are not so lucky.

I attached a link to our local paper. The "featured" video is good. Also along the right hand side of the webpage, Video 2 - "An aerial tour of Fort Collins" which was done on Friday gives a good overview of the town and into Loveland. I live about a mile south of the CSU football stadium.

    Stay safe everyone!
