Tim, most of these decisions are personal preference. This year one thing is in style, next year it is different. Do what YOU like and don't worry about what someone else thinks is acceptable.

Me? I would likely replace all of the trim in THAT room to be clear if I really wanted that door.

You can post over at the Decorating forum for more opinions, but painted is fine since the rest of the trim is painted.

The double doors painted is also fine, especially since your trim is painted.
An example: all my interior doors are stained pine w/painted trim, and the exterior back doors are white. Front door is wood........stained differently than the pine.
