13" RH benson pendants too big??

So I got a great deal on these 13"satin nickel benson RH pendants and they are non refundable now I am thinking they may be too big over the island? I know over size lighting is in... But what are thoughts?

Maybe a little big the two of them on the small island. Can yo put one over the island an the other over the breakfast table? Would that work?

They look good! Hang em up and see. Keep the packaging...if you don't like 'em once hung, take em down and sell on Craigslist or Ebay. Then purchase the smaller 7" pendants.
I agree I'm going to hang and see... I paid less for 2 then one normally costs so it was worth the chance....

Not too big at all. Almost always best to over scale and make a statement! These are often hung in groups of 3, but that would be inappropriate for your island. Here are many views of Benson lights: http://www.houzz.com/benson-lights

    I know they aren't level.....

Installed what are your thoughts? Too big? Do they work?
    Look good to me.
I think they are not too big and they work. Nice!
i like them. i wouldn't hang anything else (over sink, etrc.)Is the black geometric next to stairway staying? Maybe something that goes better???
Yes after hanging the polyhedron I agree... That is moving to the dining room or else where ... We were thinking that would go well over a kitchen table but after hanging it ... It doesn't work...

Thanks for all the input! I agree after looking at them I like the size.... Hanging only one of the benson pendants would look unbalanced.
It's tough as the benson only comes in a 13" or 7" which is too small imo ...

What are the measurements of your kitchen Island?
    Live the large scale!!! Keep.
I agree with moving the polyhedron. It's cool, make it work somewhere. You may have to rework the bannister to something more industrial looking.
I'm a fan if RH too. I started with a piece or two...lol...just warning you...you'll want more.

    Oops... Love the large scale.

What is the height of your ceiling? I love the benson, but I am worried they won't work with my 8 foot ceiling.

Hi Tim, what is the width and length of our island? My wife and I are deciding what size benson pendant to go with as well. LMK, thanks!

they are brilliant , i can not find them in the UK
any ideas where can i find them?
I just wanna know where you found the great deal. ;) I only seem to find 20% off at most.
Elizabeth- this thread is 2 years old- the sale is over;)
I got them at the rh outlet in north ga- something like $120 ea if I remember right ... It's very rare to find a pair of the same fixtures at the outlets though....
Oh wow, that's a steal! I'm in a similar situation, unsure if they will be too big for my island or not. The website says the 13" diameter ones are 19" tall...can you tell by looking if that's the globe itself or just how tall the whole fixture is? I just have standard ceiling height so I worry a 19" globe will be humongous.
13 x 19 is enormous for island pendants. When I was considering pendants, I made paper cut outs and hung them from strings where I thought I wanted them. That helped me avoid too small and too big.
That's a great idea adivra, thank you! I had already cut out the diameter circles but actually seeing how low they hang is what I need.
After living with them for over a year- I would only do the 13" the smaller 7" pendants are way too small in my opinion. I have a 48" island and 8' ceilings in the kitchen to give you perspective. Here are some recent pictures.

Oversized lighting makes a great statement

Wow, It came out great! Those pendants really do make a great statement. Congrats.

Oh nice!! I love seeing the completed look. Thanks for sharing! I ended up ordering the Harmon pendants so that I could use the 12" rod instead of the 6". Wish I had a taller ceiling because the Bensons are still my favorite.

    Hi,

I am hoping that you can help me. I have 2 of the Satin Nickel RH Benson 13 inch pendant lights. We are in NJ and working on an addition and we threw away the extension rods (insert a very sad face) and RH doesn't have them anymore. We are looking for 2 of the 6 inch and 2 of the 12 inch. I see that you used the pendant in a project and maybe just maybe you have them. Obviously I am more than willing to purchase and pay for shipping and all of that. In any case thank you!

Sorry we sold this house 10 years ago. I would check with another lighting mfg someone must have an extension rod that you could use that is simalar….
