Did you see my post in the recent thread 'Newbie here...advice appreciated'? I have it, and for hand piecing it the most useful one I have. Some of the other big encyclopedic books have sooooo much information, and emphasize machine work that they skip some essential bits for good hand work.

Petalpatsy, I think ralfsmom is talking about a home machine short-arm quilting system.

Ralfsmom, I googled it. It seems to be sturdy enough, and it has it's own table and all that, and the price is OK. I haven't tried this particular system, but I have tried others in the past, and even owned a Handiquilter.

What are you wanting to do with the system? Quilts for yourself? A business?

Somewhere on Yahoo there is a special forum dedicated to the Superquilter.

How embarrassing. Now you all know I'm living in my own little world!

LOLOL. Welcome to under the rock, Patsy. I live there. I was admiring Vicky's handbag and pulled a blank when she mentioned the holes were for WebKids? I need to go google it. Doesn't that make me a bad gramma? LOL.

Heck no, donÂt be embarrassed for any reason!

New stuff comes out all the time, and it would take 24/7 to keep up with it all. Personally, I canÂt work a cellphone to save my life  or maybe only to save my life, LOL.

But I do know machine quilting systems. This one looks OK. I canÂt give it any higher marks, because I havenÂt used it and because I was so frustrated and limited by my first short-arm system, that I hesitate to recommend any short-arm system. It was so bad that I saved up and bought a long-arm machine. But, for a short-arm system using your domestic sewing machine, it looks like it runs rings around my initial short-arm Handiquilter. Mine was the first generation Handiquilter, and I know they have made improvements to the system, but the first run models simply sucked.

You need to get the handles to control the machine (Handi-handles), because clutching the foot pedal in your armpit, or scooting it along the floor totally interrupts your quilting flow.

As always, just my opinion, and you should know I'm a machine and tool girl - I like machines, and I combine them with my art. My long-arm machine is like a very big drawing table to me. I appreciate and love hand-quilting, but I'm never going to do it.
