New here!!

Hi Everyone! I've been on GW for a few years but I'm new to quilting so I just wanted to say Hi!!

Actually I'm totally new to sewing even, I bought my first machine in September in order to learn to quilt. I'm totally addicted as I'm sure you all know yourselves. I've taken a few classes at my local fabric shop and I am in there every week adding to my hoard. I've done a few table runners and 2 lap quilt tops that have yet to be basted. I'm still working on my very first quilt which isn't from a pattern either and has turned out to be rather large for a first project (77x55).

I'm just getting ready to sandwich the biggest one so I will keep reading and enjoying all your posts. I hope to gain a lot from all your experience and and story sharing!!

Isn't it amazing how a person 'just knows' they are going to be quilting addicted as soon as they get the first project done? I am celebrating my two year anniversary of quilting, and have completed six bed quilts in that time and have three more in various stages of completion.

I've been sewing all my life, so it's hard for me to imagine somebody taking up quilting who doesn't have a sewing background. I'm impressed at your determination! I'm just getting ready to go up to my sewing room now with my morning cuppa. It's a great way to ease into the day. Welcome!

Welcome, Kathleen! New addicts are always welcome in our little group. We'd love to see pics of your projects! You can find helpful answers here almost anytime of the day and night. We have birthday block groups going, lotto games, fabric swaps, and read about our retreat in October.

    Welcome!
I've been sewing for years but have learned more from this group than I have in all my previous years of quilting. I migrated over here from another GW site too (Florida Gardening Forum) and I'm so glad I did. There's no question too big or too small - they'll help you with everything and share in your project celebrations too!

You will love it here Kathleen. I'm a newbie as well (a regular on the KT) and I'm working on my second quilt. I just bought my very first machine (Viking) and I can't wait to use it...for years and years! I've been buying online for about a month now; believe it or not there are a few online quilt shops that have a fabulous array of great fabrics, very fair prices and wonderful customer service. I am also going to take classes, most likely next month at my local quilt shop. I live in So.Cal and we don't have many good shops like they do back east.

Jump in often, I love hearing from other new quilters. After all it's all about learning and creating isn't it?

Welcome Kathleen, glad to have you with us. I must say you are braver than I was with my first project. I made a doll quilt.

Welcome Kathleen! I'm new too, and had never so much as hemmed a pair of pants before I started quilting. I have a used machine that's in the basement, but I do everything by hand so I can sit and watch TV or take it places where I'm waiting on my sons. It IS addicting, and in a wonderful useful way!

It is amazing what one quilting class can do and I am so happy you are joining us. I have been quilting for quite a while but wish I had taken more lessons because I am still learning.

Welcome, you'll have lots of fun here.
