Not a very good picture, but finish this quilt the past weekend I used the cd from Triangulations to make all the HST.

that's lovely. Your scrappy colors make it even better.

I love scrap quilts and yours is great. I can appreciate those HST as I find them a real challenge. I like the inclusion yellow though out the quilt. It ties it togeather. I read an artical a while back that suggested using the one color in each block that is the same and it seem to work.TFS Jayne

I also love scrap quilts--I should make one. Yours is lovely.

That is one nifty quilt Gillian. I am trying to figure out how it's made. I never heard of Triangulations. Curious minds want to know.

    Hi Gillian,

What a lovely quilt, I like it VERY much, had never seen this pattern before. I especially like the edges.

What does this mean please, "used the cd from Triangulations" -- the 'cd' part that is, = what ?

I love your quilt, the colors you used are lovely.

The "Triangulations" is a cd that comes with a book by Brenda Henning, I think I had to buy the book and cd seperate, it prints up the HST, I used 2.1/2" size on the quilt that way I printed up I think 12 on a sheet of paper, then its like PP sew along the lines, cut remove paper press open perfect HST every time, right now making another quilt using HST but 3" size get 8 per sheet of paper, I use Carol Doak's paper.
Hope I am making sense here type Triangulations in search I think that will help.

That is one super great scrap quilt. I am studying the design and it is made entirely of HST. I see those nifty pinwheels and then in the other block 4 HST. What a ton of sewing with a terrific result. You should be very proud.

Love your quilt....so pretty. Here's one addy that shows table runners etc made using triangulations.I imagine most LQSs carry the book /CD or both.PL

Great quilt. Those pesky HSTs are a pain to make. The 'Triangulations' method seems to be a good one.

    VERY NICE!

I love it. May have to add that to my list! Won't be as good as yours, though!

Gillian, Your quilt looks very soft and vintage to me. Nice!

Patce, Thanks for the tablerunner site....not that I need any more patterns.

I'm one who doesn't usually mind making HST. In fact, I bought a new tool/ruler type thingy to put on the bed of my machine that I won't even need to mark the squares. Can't wait to try it.

geezerfolks.........can you tell us the name of your tool/ruler type thingy? Sounds neat cuz I hate making the lines.

I think I've figured out an easy way to make this without the triangulations book and CD, but it might not necessarily include the pinwheels. I have a ton of pre-cut squares so it would not take too long to get off and running. It's basically a one block quilt...of quarter square triangles. You put four together to form the pinwheel block and the other one gets a sashing around it to make it the same size as the four together. Then they are set on point. Very cool.

What a beauty, and what a lot of work it must have been to make all those HSTs! I, too, love that vintage look. Awesome!

Thanks for the explanation Gilllian & the pic on the other thread of the HST.

Are the others, the in between units (or what I referred to as the 'edges'), are those what are called 1/4 square triangles?

Duh to me about 'CD'; sorry I just forgot about that & thanks again for explaining & the whole post.

Pirate_girl...The whole quilt is done with HST its the way you place them that makes the design, I would cut 2 pieces of fabric 7"x 10.1/4" one light one print put right sides together put the printed paper on the top sew the seams and then would have 12-2.1/2" HST,then just laid out the pattern on the floor.

    Thanks, again Gillian,

On reading your last comment, I looked again & see yes, they're all HST but it's how they're positioned. I hadn't realized the 'edges' were them also, just turned differently. I don't quite follow abt the size you listed above; but I can see I will want to make this some time in the future.

Does this pattern have a name, in particular, the layout you used? It's really great, I am smitten!

The pattern was a free one I downloaded called "Mosaic" I used 2 colour instead of 3, pretty sure it was from "stitch-n-frame" I had the pattern sitting around here for along time all the HST scared me away, then I saw the CD and decided to give it a try now I am on my 3rd quilt using them.
