If it is small I would probably steal a small piece from inside and use fusible tape to make the patch. If you cut the patch the right size and match the weave it should work. You can probably work the tape through the hole without having to take the collar apart.

How do you use fusible tape? Would you put the patch in the hole and fuse it from the top?

Sooner, so you're saying I should cut a patch the size of the hole and stick it on with something like Stitch Witchery? I have that, too. I will have to check the fabric when I steal the patch from inside, I'm not sure if it will ravel much. I'm a little hesitant to poke it through the hole and make the hole worse. The hole is about the size you would get if you used a paper hole punch. But I have no problem opening up a couple of inches of collar inside the neckline, and sewing it back up by hand.

What should I do about the raw edge of the hole? I can trim it close with embroidery scissors, but should I try to seal it?

Yes I would put the fusible between the layers of collar. You don't want to cut a big piece since it is going to stiffen the area a little, but it needs to be bigger than the hole. After getting the tape under, I would slightly fuse on each of the hole with the tip of the iron so it doesn't move while you work. Cut you piece to insert and keep it as clean edged as possible. Once it is in place and fused, the fusible is going to keep it from ravling. You should us a press cloth so you don't scorce the fabric.

That is the only idea I have. Maybe someon else has a better idea.
