Usually when someone is taking in pants they do a dart in the waistband area, they don't take apart the pants legs. If you decided to cut some off of the legs the inside seam would probably be the best place. Also the wrap over your talking about is going to ravel if you dont totaly cover all raw edges. With all of that said, I'm afraid you'll ruin your jeans.

whats a dart? i was just going to cut down through the waist band and maybe a inch below that on my right and left side, and then over lap. yikes i don't want to ruin my jeans.

Take them somewhere and have them altered,unless you want to ruin them for ever!!! What you want to do is not a job for someone who knows nothing about sewing.Spend the money at at a alteration shop,you won't be sorry.

This alteration cannot be done satisfactorily with hand sewing. It will rip as soon as you move. It needs to be done on a sewing machine. The others are really giving you good advice. Find an alterations shop. Worth the $$$

ok ok i won't be a man and try to fix this problem on my own. does anyone know any good alteration places? i'm from Dallas, TX. should i just google alteration shops?

Go to Target or Walmart. They sell new jeans for what you're going to pay to have your old ones altered.

Or try trading them in at Salvation Army or a consignment shop for the right size.
