driveway ? buckling

I have a ~10 year old asphalt driveway bordered with clay brick. Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed an area at the garage entrance that is raising/ bulging up. It is October and nowhere near freezing on Long Island so a freeze/ thaw issue is not possible. There are no water pipes under the asphalt there. Interesting, the brick border is undisturbed.
This seems odd as it is only recent.

Photo should give a lot of info.

Any ideas? Maybe I have a tree growing under there (doubtful)

What is the species of the nearest tree and how far is it from this buckling?

Red oak and it is about 40 feet away. There is a town maple tree near the street about 30 feet away.

I have seen significant oak tree roots at distances exceeding 60 feet from the tree.
Looks as if possible options are to shave down the bulging asphalt to again make it level, cut out the bulging portion to investigate the cause of heaving/bulging or just ignore it. Patching will not be an exact match.
If tree roots are found to be the cause, removal of the tree is one option. Red oaks do not withstand storm winds as well as do white oaks.
