Treadle sewing machines

Lehman's no longer sells treadle sewing machines, nor do the sell the cabinets that were designed specifically for the Janome machine. They suggested I try Chestnut Ridge Sewing; contact them at email: crsewing@sotainter.net. Dick Wright of TreadleOn reports it was not easy to put the Janome in a cabinet; he used a brother cabinet circa 1970's

On the other hand, it's quite easy to take a set of orphan irons and make a top to fit. Here's a picture of me working at a machine mounted in such a top. Notice that we just made the slot overlong to accommodate the treadle belt. I'm also including the link to my webshots albums. Go to the "Other Sewing Machines" album to see how this sort of set-up goes together. Then take a look at my custom sewing table in the "Studio" album for the most extreme example of this: Five sewing heads mounted in one big work table.
