Forgotten things

On my old computer for a while since I picked up a serious virus and my good computer is in the shop.

I found this cartoon which I must have saved back in the day.

Some times I feel like I am digging this mote.

Last year I put my winter curtains away in spring when it was warm enough I have NO idea why the two pair got separated. When I went to put them back up only one pair was there. I totally forgot what I had done with the second pair until I was moving a small shelf in our closet to clean behind it. The curtains were on the shelf. It was back against the wall under the hanging clothes so I could not see them.Totally blank on how/why that happened. I was just about ready to make a new set but I just KNEW I did not get rid of one pair of curtains.

No big deal but it made me laugh at me trying to be organized and loosing half a pair of curtains.

Oh, Chris! I have done that TOO many times to count! I don't even think about how it happened any more, just go with the found thing and move on.

I have a curtain tote in the garage but the last time I rearranged the bathroom I put everything from there in a little plastic box and put it in the basement out of sight/out of mind. BUT while I was looking for something else I found that box and the box of telephones and answering machines I'd put down there. I shop my house so I can't imagine why I put those boxes down there. I get water in the spring and it's damp for a few months. Paint is down there but things that might mold are not supposed to be!

After 10+ years I finally moved the over sized picture frames to the garage. I'd had them in a trunk in my bedroom so every time I shopped it covered 3 floors! I wish I had an empty room where I could warehouse everything in a temperature conducive to shopping!

Lov_mykitchen. That would be wonderful to have a room to store the items in to shop through. I did this when we moved here. Everything small went into the guest room. Even kitchen stuff because my cabinets were being worked on even after we moved in.

When I am feeling the need to see a different landscape in here I do like you and shop the house. I just did this the other day. This is why I was moving the shelf to clean behind. Something else was going into that spot. I just switched a couple little things here and it opened up my studio and sewing room and even the closet.

When we moved into this house I used the guest/sewing room as my staging room. It was nice to be able to go in there and pick and choose. Unfortunately I had to dig through boxes to do this.

I have loft space out in the shop for things to bring into the house or edit out. I will be keeping most of my furniture now and just rotate it around.

Lovemkitchen, what do you mean "shopped your house"???

I had visions of keeping only a few things when we restored the derelict garage as my TEahouse. So far, it is packed up with flooring for our remodel, appliances and old doors I must strip to reuse, plants wintering over, house contents from DH's move south from Massachusetts....with tons and tons of heavy textbooks included. Thank heaven the buyers of his home wanted all the furnishings left! Even pictures on the wall. So I think I did pretty good turning that house from dowdy to desirable. Didn't even take down the curtains or remove sheets from the bed! I think that is amazing.

But I have no room to put anything else from our current house out there until they use up the flooring and install the appliances. What remains inside with us while the remodel work progresses must squeeze into the sunporch or the walk in closet and master bath, which won't have wood floors installed. They are all tiled. I'm sure I'll need help moving that queen mattress because I cannot even DRAG it a few inches when it gets out of square on the bedframe. I wish ALL MATTRESSES were required to have handles on both sides. It just makes sense.

I have a folder of humor that I moved to this computer, too good to lose. Some Maxine cartoons. And a few other things. I also loved Larson's Far Side cartoons. And as our construction work progresses, I can sure appreciate the king being upset about the moat!

Here's my contribution to humor the day before Thanksgiving. Man, this year is almost done and over with!

Are you familiar with the Escher drawings? They depict perspectives gone wrong. This is a cartoon about such a construction project, and I think I've dreamed about something like this happening in MY remodel.

and another one pertaining to remodeling perhaps?

    HA ML good ones.

I know what Lov-mykitchen means on shopping the house. For me anyway. No matter how hard I try to purge what I am not using I have some things I LOVE but do not always have room for in the house. So I tuck them in the loft or lamps in the big trunk beside the love seat. Or pictures under the bed in suitcases. So when I need a different small table because I moved some thing else. I will grab one of my stored tables in the loft or lamps from the suitcases under the bed or in the trunk. If I had a staging room as I talked to you about the other night I would go into that room and take some thing from in there to place for my new look in my house. Equals shopping my house instead of buying some thing new. Some times I move things around and what I had before does not work in the new space so I put some of the non fitting things away some where to shop for later. I even rob my mosaic stash sometimes for a tray or dish I might need some where.

I see what you mean, Shades.

I like to get multiples of some things because I know eventually I can rearrange them elsewhere. I had 5 nice bookcases I got years ago when the store was going out of business. I used them for years, they had no backs, adjustable shelves. I still have one of them, the others were damaged by Katrina and warped, but I used them for a long time afterward. Also matching those bookcases was some end tables and plant stands, which I used for night stands beside the bed beneath a wall mounted reading light. The couple who bought DH's house in MA got them, and everything else in the house furniture-wise which helped us vacate the house. They wanted EVERYTHING. Even my wrought iron bistro table and 2 wrought iron chairs. THAT was a bummer because I loved it....but so did she.

Imagine for a moment: All 3 of us living in the same block/neighborhood shopping each other's houses. A long time ago In another life, all of us in my neighborhood shared a box of curtains. You put your curtains in and took out what you wanted. Whoever used it last stored it.

HA Lov_mkitchen. That would be a riot. I actually used to do this with a friend years ago. We lived across the river from each other. We would play lets decorate and change things around using each others things many times. In the end when we moved away we squared up. I bought some of her things and she bought some of mine. Mostly traded stuff.
