Interfacing question

I need some advice. I finished making all the cuts from the wedding gown and am ready to star putting the pieces together as a Baptism gown. The back bodice is supposed to have a strip of interfacing on the edge. I'm assuming it's to reinforce the buttonholes/buttons.

The dress has a sheer organza overlay and a heavy dull satin as the lining. The interfacing would go in between the layers and would be visible from the outside.

Can I omit the interfacing on this because of the fabric or is there something else I can use?

You would interface the inside of the satin, not the outside, so it wouldn't show.

You can also use the selvage of the organza as interfacing.

Thanks. I didn't think of that. But won't it show on the inside? Some interfacing is quite scratchy.

Instead of using typical bought interfacing just use some very thin soft white cotton fabric. The gown isn't going to get a lot of wear and tear on it so I don't see using interfacing is really needed.
