Not the cobalt--too intense and quarrels with your beautiful counters. I like the plain metal ones, either shape. Actually I like the octagon, but I'd worry that you'd constantly be readjusting them back to straight again.

I actually installed the number#2 knob myself on honey maple cabinets, I think it looks good, ha ha, but that's just my opinion.

I think the blue is too much, although I love those knobs. The white milk glass gets kinda lost. I do actually like the 1st one & both metal knobs. I think of the metal ones I like the hex better.
Why do the simple decisions always cause us the most stress? I am trying to decide on kitchen floor grout right now and just can't seem to make up my mind.

Whatever you choose, I am anxious to see your finished kitchen. It already is so lovely.

i almost always opt for the simplest choice with this kind of stuff, but i have to say, i like the cobalt. but if you're using those, find ones without the escutcheon thing.

I vote for #2. You have that GORGEOUS granite and, although I think the cobalt knobs are pretty and I love cobalt, I think it will detract from the counters. You could possibly just use them on your island, or in some other limited way. I think I would have been good to post a picture of your whole kitchen with this knob question. It can be easy to make the mistake of picking the "prettiest" knobs without considering the overall look. If there are too many attention-grabbing elements in the room, they compete, and it gets too busy. My second choice would be the metal octagon. I don't like the white much; to me it is more country cute and your kitchen is more elegant.

I also vote for either metal one (more #2) and then use the cobalt on the island

I would prefer to see you do a mix of knobs. first number one is my favorite. it does work wuth the cottage look and draws in the color of the white cabinets to the maple. its important to try to do that when you are using two different cabinet styles in a room.

and then secondly, i'd like to see the blue knobs on the white doors. again you're pulling in another element from the kitchen to the cabs. its also very cottagie...if thats a word, to have a mix of knobs. these two compliment but don't compete or get lost with the other surfaces.

I like the colbalt but if you want to play it safe, I would vote for the 3rd one. The white does not seem to complete the natural wood color. Although I like the blue, it may become a little much. If it were my kitchen I would go with the silver and dress it up a little more with the octogon. Can wait to see which one you go with. And which ever one it is, it will look great!

I like the boring default knob. There is so much going on with the granite that I wouldn't try to compete. I could also like the pewter octagon but I agree that you would always be readjusting them to level, which would drive me crazy.

I like the boring default knob, too. However, the other metal knob that you said you really like looks nice too. If you perfer that one (and it's clear you do) you should go with that one.

I didn't like the white or blue ones at all.

How many knobs will be visible from the various vantage points in the kitchen? If many, you'll definitely want to consider the cumulative visual weight and how it accentuates or detracts from the focal granite. I like the octagons, but I wouldn't want to see 700 of them, IYKWIM.

I think the blue knob is too much with your beautiful granite. You want something more neutral so the other items get their due attention! Go with either SS knob. Good Luck!

I'm having trouble visualizing any of these knobs with the gilmore pulls. (I do like the gilmore knobs, but you don't put those as an option)... I think, of the choices you gave, I would stick with one of the simple nickel pulls (#2 or #4), although I can see why the white ones appeal to you with the rest of the elements in your kitchen. You might want to wait and have all the cup pulls installed first, then take a pic and see which knobs seem to speak to you from a "whole finished kitchen" perspective.

Have you thought about clear glass knobs? (Link below) They might give you the retro/cottage-y touch you are looking for without competing with your granite or the cream color of your island.

Also, this may be just a matter of personal preference, but I would install the knobs not in the exact corner of the doors, but a little higher up from the corner.

I like the metal ones...prefer the round ones partly b/c, as someone else mentioned, you don't have to "adjust" them to make them the same (if that matters to you.) The other reason I like the round one is that when I saw it w/the granite my first reaction was "oh nice!" The white did nothing for me...just seemed blah. Personally, I think the blue competes w/your granite for attention and looks, at least on my monitor, "plastic-y"

How about round, wood knobs that match the cabinet colors? I've seen something similar on some English cottage kitchens. That would limit the number of different finishes, be cottage-y, and not compete with the granite.

I am with berry. The all look boring compared to the spectacular stone.

The stone is so beautiful, you need something to match that. A cool tone, something in stone or stainless steel. A tone that is between the warm wood and the cool stone.

White is not it. I would keep looking for a stone knob. In fact, can you fabricate a small square out of the granite and epoxy it to a flat knob.

I like the boring default knob as well. Your kitchen is looking lovely!

Well, I like the boring default knob best, but would rather call it the "classic round metal" knob. I like the idea of the octagon, since it picks up the other octagon shapes in the room, but honestly, I like the round ones best (they're not boring!).

I second igloo's idea. And igloo, I hope that the decrease in typing errors in your post, as well as your decorating decisiveness, means you are feeling better!

I like either the default knob or the milk glass hex. (A clear hex would also look nice.) I definitely would not introduce further elements to compete with the counters and the different cabinet finishes--let those design elements shine. I also think 1" is the way to go. 1.25" seems too big, a little 1980's looking.

Hmmm, how many knobs do you need? These are exspensive but beautiful. They do custom orders.

Thank you all for your comments! #1 and #3 are definitely out, and I may continue searching. Tile is starting to go on this afternoon and I'm narrowing down the paint, so things are moving.

I think the blue ones might look neat on the white island. For the others, I would choose something pretty plain.

lol morton! my typing has gotten terrible with the one and thing! i'm attempting to make it through daylight hours without drugs, which should help my typing issues just a bit.

toay i'm drug free and grumbling like a bear lol the insurance does not want to pay for the surgery because it was a default in the ladder. the ladder company is of course not interested...and to be honest...i really am not the type to sue, even if it is their fault. the freaking system is going to make me do it or i pay cash. is that goofy or what!

so blue....none of the knobs made any real waves....can we pick some new options for you? you know we all love to do that! can we see picks of any already picked pulls and then be told finishes you have going on in there? i LOVE to knob shop!!!!!

wow... i think those blue flower knobs are a bit ...LARGE. i don't like the blue at all though. i think the "boring" brushed nickel knob is classic and doesn't detract from the rest of the kitchen. and i believe your KD is right: white porcelain has passed.
