Your first GOG! You've done a beautiful job! On my first GOG I didn't put enough glue on the pieces and the grout seeped underneath, didn't look too bad from the front, but the back looked like crap. I don't see any grout seeping under yours (you paid attention, I didn't. lol) I love that old door! You did a fantastic job! You should be proud, the blood and sweat will be less on the next one I'm sure.

Very Beautiful! was it a pattern or did you design that? it's fabulous, I've shied away from trying GOG so I'm amazed to see everyone's beautiful pieces.

My first impression was Van Gogh! It's just wonderful. You have absolutely NO reason to feel intimidated, but EVERY reason to feel proud. BEAUTIFUL. I noticed the addition of the vines running around the door. How did you add those? They are a FABULOUS addition. The faux finish is also very nice. Tell us more on finishing. Can't wait to see the three together. Blood, sweat and tears??? Isn't it a wonderful way to suffer?

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I appreciate all the great comments! It's also good to hear from the true experts that I didn't break every rule in the "glass mosaic rule book". Reading this forum and looking at all the pics just reaffirms to me that there are so many things I don't know about the whole glass thing.

linlee/ calamity: I freehanded this and honestly didn't try to make it look like it was blowing in the wind but now that you mentioned it I can see it now....lol

I had been toying with the raised leaf vine idea for awhile and decided to try it on the door. I couldn't beleive how simple it was.... The putty I used is called Wood Plastic (actual name on the can) and you can find it at Home Depot in the wood fillers. It's $5.?? something a can which is a little more expensive than a plain wood filler BUT I chose this one because it is waterproof and can be used outdoors. I used approx. 3/4 of the can for the entire vine. It's like a putty and I just formed and shaped the vine with my fingers all over the door and then went in and made the leaves. I just put a glob of wood plastic on the vine and then took real leaves from my yard and gently pressed each one in to the wood putty to get the impression. Then I used the end of my knife and cut away the excess putty and some slits in the ends of the leaves for detail. It was set up hard enough to sand and paint by the next day. The paint is what really makes the vine pop. The paint is a green exterior paint from Home Depot. Once that was dry I sponged on/ragged off an acrylic metalic bronze (craft paint from Walmart I already had). I had never tried the process before but found it to be SO easy. Can't wait to try other things with it.

As BAMA and my DD say - "Get outta town"! Well, get ME outta town. I can't believe you hand-crafted those leaves. Don't talk to ME about the talent and experts on this forum, lady. This is another project that makes me want to hang up my tools. You mean you didn't EVEN use a tube to squeeze the putty on - you just laid it out w/a knife applicator? Just goes to show you what talent abounds around these parts. And, oh, the part of the glass design being wind-blown - er, uh, that's part of your TALENT coming out. Some of our best work is un-intended. It still looks Van Gogh-ish to me. What you SAY you lack in knowledge of glass, you certainly don't lack in talent. You're an artist, girlie!

The door is spectacular, it looks great...the only comment I have that is in the negative aspect is that it really would look better if you sent it to me!!!!!!
