Why not just get the double brackets, and then have the poles cut from closet rod poles or metal pipe and paint them?

Here is one bracket that holds two rods - a 2" one in the front, a 1" one in the back. Doesn't come in white, but you could paint it when you paint the closet pole/metal pipe. Or, if you can find the white poles, when you just need to deal with the brackets.

There may also be other things on that site that might work. Unfortunately, I don't have time to look right now as I have to get to work, so look around at the site.

Try countrycurtains.com. They have lots of curtain rods. Take a look at the link below. It's a basic white double rod that comes in various sizes up to 120".

Sorry, been a few days since I've had a chance to check in. Les917, I'm trying desperately to avoid something I have to paint. I've gone down that road, and it wasn't pretty! I can find TONS of double rods in other colors, but I'm searching & searching for something that's "ready to go". $150 for just the brackets, that I have to paint myself, is a bit steep considering what it's being used for, too. Wow, I had no idea brackets could cost so much. But I will certainly peruse the site a bit more and see what else they have. Thanks for the point in that direction!

monkeyjac, those are the "industrial" type metal ones I was referring to. I need a deocrative rod.

I figured tons of people here might have secret curtain rod resources, but maybe this is more of a universal challenge than I expected. :)

I'm not sure where you are located, but you can try Expo Design or The Great Indoors. You may want to try hitting different locations of the same store. I've heard that stores like Bed Bath & Beyond customize some of their merchandise to cater to the type of shoppers they attract at each location.
