I think it's grand that you are asking for help for this man and his creativity. I hope you have success.

Bless your heart for a wonderful community service project. Make a call to anyone in your town who sells the brushes, and ask them for a discount. I know things in our town are discounted when we are asking for help for the Samaritan Purse donations.

This might help if they have what you want.
Check if they still have a minimum order and the shipping costs, some have complained in the past.
I don't have a problem with paying less than half price including shipping to Florida for the stuff I order, for you it should be less.

Just wanted to say this group has a wonderful circle of friends in it. As I mentioned in the first post, that I had posted this same letter on the painting board and only had 1 reply ! Just look at the help I have had here, it has only been posted about 12 hours and already 4 great people replied ! :)
I appreciate all your help, and I know that I will be able to find them, just will take some looking and a little help from my friends ( That means you , and you and you too ! )
I emailed McGills and waiting on there reply. I checked out another web site, and they referred me to there other store, as the first one was wholesale ( no big deal, I can handle that ) but when they told me the yearly total would have to accumulate $ 5,000, I almost flipped. Hey, Lady I am just trying to help a friend not supply Walmart ! So now I am waiting on a catalog from the second store.

Slowmedown, no one in my hometown or surrounding towns no longer carry these brushes. I thought a Ceramic shop would have them but we only have one of those 25 miles from me, and they have discountinued carrying them.
The Samaritan Purse ? Can you tell me a little about that. I have never heard of it.

LOL - love that last line. Samaritan Purse is an organization run by Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham. They help w/all kinds of relief, and are an evangelistic group - HUGE organization. The area I was speaking of in my town is at Christmas time. Our Baptist churches collect tons of shoe boxes, filled w/little gifts for children. They truck them to a distributing point for shipment overseas. A couple years ago we sent them to children in Iraq. Local merchants are very generous in their gifts and discounts for items for these boxes. Google Samaritan's Purse for more info, LOVES. It's a wonderful org.

Sandra, I have gotten some nice sets of sable brushes by sending coupons that are printed in the ads of various painting magazines. Some of them have been close to free but that was a few years ago, but it would be worth taking a look at your local newstand. I wish you luck! You are obviously a very generous woman and kind besides, and your town is lucky to have someone like you doing their bidding!

Check out Jerry's Artarama. This page will take you to a page of Red Sable watercolor brushes. There are lots of others available through them as well I suspect. I have purchased art supplies from them, and they are great. Hope this helps, sounds like a great cause.

Slowmedown, I remember last Christmas , a group was purchasing items from us at a flea market and said they were putting them in shoe boxes. I guess I should have ask then, I just thought it was for kids at their church. Is there any particular item that you are looking for ? If I can help you out in any way, please let me know.

Ladyronnie, Man .. am I ever glad that you posted for Jerrysartrama, I looked at this one this morning and bookmarked it to go back and order from it, it has been a busy day and I completely forgot about going back to it. I just went and ordered some of the brushes that he can use. It looked like good prices to me, I really do appreciate all of your help and if there is anything out there I can do for anyone just let me know.

By the way........ a bowling center not to far from us, told me that any of the bowling balls that are on the racks, that does NOT have the bowling centers initials on them, have been left by customers, and they are free for the taking. You might check with your local bowling center and see if the same applies there. Some of them are so pretty that you dont want to mosaic over them ! But... they are FREE ! Just a heads up and its worth checking out.

Crackpotannie,please explain Hannity to me ? Either I am not thinking or it just went Zoom right over my head. This man needs alot of support, he is doing this on his own, with no help from anyone, says it makes him feel good to give something back to the community.

I wish more people would get involved and show him how proud we are to have him not only supporting our troops, but so that he can continue this.
