I've made three solid slab medicine-cabinet doors of water-resistant MDF that I'm covering with mahogany veneer. I plan to cover the outsides of the three doors with mirrors, to make a traditional tri-view medicine cabinet. Out of compulsiveness, and not without some anguish, I'm covering the outsides of the doors (under the mirrors) with mahogany veneer. This is to eliminate any possibility of warping due to unbalanced veneer movement. (This will probably also eliminate any possibility of removing a mirror without making a total mess of the door.)

Question is what would be the best finish (if any) for the veneer onto which the mirrors will be attached? My default plan is to use mirror glue and tape. I plan to finish the (visible) insides of the doors with Waterlox Original. According to veneer theory I should use the same finish on both sides, for anti-warp balance. But I doubt Waterlox is an ideal substrate for glue. Any thoughts appreciated.
