Can you tell me about the wood for the countertop? What type and how to maintain it?

They are maple countertops {made by Santiam Cabinets in Albany Oregon} with a waterproof coating on top called Waterlox®. It is also heat and stain-resistant for a tough, hard finish. For maintenance, simply wash top with mild soap and water, and then rinse. Disinfect with a weak solution of vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Be sure to dry the top thoroughly.

these countertops are less expensive than granite ~ they ran $3500 for this kitchen.
