Bathroom Light Doesn't Work

The bottom plug on our GFCI outlet near our bathroom sink hasn't been working properly. So, I took it apart to see if there were some loose wires or if the whole thing needed to be replaced.

There was only one wire attached to the outlet box-black. There was a loose white wire which looked like it should have been in the box but had come loose when I removed it from the wall. I reconnected the white wire, and the bathroom light still doesn't work. I unhooked the white wire (back to where it was when I first opened the wall)-bathroom light still didn't work. There was no change at all to the GFCI outlet-so I assume I need a new outlet.

Any idea why the bathroom light won't work??? Everything is back to where it was before I touched it, but no light!
