Well, the 1st one, you know me and black grout... and the 2nd one, I'd say paint browns and greens on the thin set and use crash glass, then grout with brown??? Just thinkin' out loud....

I wonder... what the geode ball would look like... with river stones around the teal...? Tiny stones close... getting a little bigger as you move away from the center. I REALLY like your idea with the sparkles in the center and then that beautiful teal showing through the crash glass. It's a very sharp look already!

hmmmmmm, I'm inclined to see a medium aggregate cement on the geode but from there... I have no idea.

Ornament, I'd go green grout and paint gold glitter over it

Slate . . . .what do you all think of irregular pieces of slate on the "geode" ball?

I love the slate idea, wench. I was going to say that I would keep it textured with thinset or even crash glass over a grey or brown like Calam said. But, the slate idea is even better!

Slate sound awesome but for reason my mind wants geometry in the shapes... (shrug)

My thoughts: The first BB would look good with black grout.( but it is difficult to tell with photos) Maybe you can mix the grouts, black on the red& green, gold on outer sides, or vice versa...??

I really love the geode! Maybe you can paint the ball? There are some nice textured paints that can take the elements.

Okay, now that I've looked at the geodes and rocks maybe I need to roughen the thinset up a little and stain it a different color/colors. When I look at it I say and see "thinset."

Maybe I need to stop overthinking it and try to make it look more weathered like a billion year old rock . . . .
