Pool Panel with Timers but wrong voltage for application?

New pool install. Have Intermatic T32404R pool panel installed. (This panel has 2 220v clock/timers). Problem is Pool Water pump can not be changed to run 220v as the pool installer said it would.

I phoned intermatic to see if this panel can be wired differently he gave me 3 options.

1) Replace timer with T101m (mechanism only) (costs $60 roughly)

2) Just replace the 220v Clock to 120v and use only terminals 1 & 2 (clock part WG1570) (costs $20)

3) Using a 2 pole GFI breaker feed the power to the existing 220v clock/timer (terminals 1 & 3), and Then connect terminal #4 to the load of the 120volt water pump. Neutral from water pump would connect to the 2 pole GFI breaker.

This option is Free:) (I say free because I already have the 2pole GFI breaker and when the pump does go I will replace with 220v for lower heat during operation and easier start ups) The Water pump in question is 1hp.

I guess my main question is will this work as the Intermatic Tech person described? If I understand GFIÂs well enough; I would say that by using the 2 hot legs out of the 2 pole 20 amp GFI to power the time clock, then only using 1 hot leg out of the timer (terminal #4) that IÂm creating an imbalance of volts between hot/neutral thus probably going to have the GFI Tripping?
