We have a hanging foyer light, but ours is not as visible from the outside as yours is. We then have a light to the left of the front door, and two recessed lights in the porch entry.

There's something nice about turning off your inside lights when you leave, but still being able to come home to a well-lit entrance. Does the recessed light illuminate the area well? Or do you need additional light?

Looking at your pics again, I don't think there's an obvious place to put an outdoor fixture. How wide is that piece of wall between the front door and the corner?

Thank you for your imput avesmor, I'm not sure how wide that wall is.

She may be ok with a nice flood light up high in that ceiling outlet.

We're hoping to drive through the neighborhood at night soon to see how others handle the situation.

Can you do a lantern type light outside next to the exterior door? I can't tell how many inches you have out there.

Maybe go with the recessed, as I think putting a hanging lantern on the outside would create a competition between the inside and outside lights.

Can you get a picture of the outside light location? It doesn't look like sconces are going to work on that wall so perhaps some sort of 'close ceiling' or semi-flush would work if you wanted something other than recessed.

Also, a direct/indirect for the interior would be great with that arched ceiling.
