It IS quite heavy, probably 10-15 pounds at this point, maybe more? It's 3/16" glass before I glue more on, and it's not grouted yet. I imagine a distressed white wood frame, don't know for sure yet.
SUNFUN: It was half a sliding glass door set that broke, so I still have quite a bit of glass left, though I didn't get nearly all of it to start with. I picture it hanging in front of a window where it can catch direct sun. It is REALLY pretty with sun shining through it.

Y'all are inspiring me so much that I may just start working on that GOG that I haven't touched for 2 years but which is sitting on my workshop table (OK, it's a laundry room, but DH built a table to my height; now it's a workshop!)

It just may be time to stop asking everyone questions and DO IT.

How pretty that is turning out to be! And don't I remember reading about how you weren't sure you were going to be happy with it when you first began? That is a good lesson for me, not to give up if I can't see the final result in my head when I start out, to keep working & make it beautiful!

Thanks, again. Yep, PANTHER, when I just had the pinky purple border and one side of the blue swirls, all I could see was a stylized 60's hairdo! It IS turning out nicely, isn't it? I'll try not to hurt myself patting myself on the back... ;)

We have a digital scales we use at our farm stand, and I just weighed it. It weighs just over 14 pounds at this point. I'm thinking a frame reinforced by flat L brackets on each corner/both sides!

It's coming along so nice!! I can just see it sparkling in the sunlight!!

DH is gone DH (deer hunting) today, so FINALLY got all the crash glass done! I won't post another pic til I get it framed and ready to hang. And I'll take it with the sun shining through. Sure wish I didn't have to be to work in an hour. It's a gorgeous day and I think I could get it done. Maybe tomorrow...

...there's also the question of grout!!! Yikes! I REALLY don't know whether to grout the crash glass or not. There are LOTS of little spaces, but there are also LOTS of spaces where the silicone squished up through. I've used a razor blade to scrape off what I can feel, and will use Magic Eraser when it's all completely dry. I am thinking about masking the crash glass with contact paper, and just grouting the blue swirls and the spaces in the pinkpurple border, leaving the rest of it as is. The glass blobs keep the outside edge of the p/p border from being a hazard. (I did not tumble anything.) I REALLY don't want to clean grout from around all those blobs anyway!!!

Ronnie I like your idea of only grouting the glass pieces and not the crash glass. I do like the look of the crash glass grouted but I think it will distract from the whol look of it.It looks so great the way it is ungrouted. With the sun shining through it, it has to sparkle like diamonds!!! Great job you really made this into a great work of art. I just love it!!!

What if you poured resin over it instead of grouting?
