You could install back painted glass, say in grayish purple on the back of the open cabinet, and then put a purple filter over the puck light in the display niche.

The silver is adding to the cold and boring feeling. Red in bigger doses will warm it up - just picture your silver items in red and you'll see. I'd find a big red bowl to fill with fruit and a tray for some items, as this appears to be a bultler's pantry with such a small sink. Where is the real work area?

Potted herbs for some natural greenery and a textural basket of fruit, vegetables or bread would help to warm up the space.
