I used it about 6 years ago. I found the magnetic paint to be "goopy" and hard to paint on the wall. I tried to do several coats and some sanding in between. My walls were very smooth and I could not get the magnetic paint to look as smooth. Did the best I could and then covered it with the wall color that matched the room. I did this on the triangle wall of a staircase leading to our mudroom and used it to display the kids' art.

Regular magnets will not stick well. The key is to use small but very strong magnets. My DH was able to get them online at hobby sites.

We did a door in our kitchen with magnetic & blackboard paint a little over a year ago. It works, but you have to be patient and do many, many coats of magnetic paint. I think we did 6 coats and we could have done more. chispa is correct, you need "good" magnets as weaker ones will not do the trick. That said, with good magnets our door looks quite good and features our children's art and the odd note quite nicely.

I used magnetic paint about 5 years ago. I used it in a small section in a teens room for her photos. My daughter loved it. But, Chispa and sochi are right...you did need multiple, multiple coats it order for it to work well and it doesnt go on real smooth. This could be pretty expensive for an entire wall.

Because of my trepidation about being able to cover it down the road, I skipped the magnetic paint, but did but some thin metal sheeting that I painted with chalkboard paint, framed, and put in DD's playroom. It wasn't too bad to work with -- much easier than the magnetic paint I had played around with.

For weekly menus, one of the easiest things I've found is a regular picture frame with glas or acrylic (either will work), but instead of a print/poster inside, make your own meal planner layout. I made one for a friend that has fill-in days/dates/meals/shopping list, and a column of their most frequent side dishes (she can circle the one that applies). Cost about $3 to print out my design on 16x20 paper, and she bought a pre-made frame at HL 50% off.
