should arm styles match?

I'm considering either of these sofa's. The rolled arm sofa is more comfortable, but like the English(?) arm style of the other sofa better. In either case, I'm in love with these accent chairs, but the arms are squared, unlike either of the sofa's. I also love some of the exposed arm style chairs.
Should the accent chair arm styles match the arm style of the sofa? I'd be getting 2 (of the same) accent chairs that would situate across from the couch.

I am only seeing one sofa, the one with the Charles of London arm, but no, arm styles do not have to match.

It is better to avoid two similar but different rolled arms for example, but if they are different shapes altogether, it's usually fine.

I actually like a Charles of London arm, but the rolled arm is nice, too. I think either combo is fine.

I know nothing about the "rules" of decorating, so when we were shopping for furniture for our new home (well....five years ago), I turned to our furniture salesman for guidance. We bought a large sectional first and then I wanted to buy chairs. He kept nixing all my choices because he said the arms didn't match the sectional. I had never heard of that before and was becoming very exasperated. He said "either no arms or they have to match", so we ended up buying chairs with no arms. To this day I'm not sure he really knew what he was talking about, but when I saw your post I thought I'd put it out there.

I don't think arms have to match. I am purchasing two SB chairs with the English arm and my sofa will be an H&M rolled arm sofa. I will also be adding a third chair once my brain recuperates from decision overload!

Here is the pic of the SB English arm chair.

The arms don't have to match, but they should be complementary. I think your chair selection fights with both sofas you've selected. I've posted both of your sofa selections with a variety of arm chairs that IMO complement the sofas. I've included a sofa that complements your chair selection.

    Bev, great advice once again!

Thanks Bev, I do see how those are complimentary. I notice the chair legs are very different from the sofa in some of your suggestions, does that matter? and the seat height..should the chairs be same as the sofa to look right?

Holly-Kay, the furniture store has that set on display and I sat in your chair, it's very comfortable!

I have to admit that I am not familiar with the Smith Furniture company, but some manufacturers allow you to mix and match furniture legs.

I would recommend that the legs at least have the same finish. I admit that I do not like the appearance of those Bun Feet on the rolled arm sofa, nor the turned legs on the chair with the ottoman.
